Stop whatever you’re doing, because you’re going to want to read this. And then you’re going to want to enter the competition. And WIN it. Because this is what you and I have been waiting for… the chance to invent your very own Cadbury chocolate bar and have it hit the ACTUAL shelves…. And now that I have your attention, let me tell you a little bit more…
You may remember me writing about Cadbury’s first ever Inventor Campaign last year… well, 17 year old Callum only went and won it, with his amazing invention, ‘CHOCA-LATTE’, which is now a permanent part of the Cadbury Dairy Milk range. What a thing! Stick THAT on your UCAS form, Callum.
Now we are into Cadbury’s second year of inviting us all to have a go at becoming the next inventor, and my brain is already boggling in a Willy Wonka kinda way.
Cadbury is so loved by our nation – it’s like an old friend. The comfiest chair. The cosiest blanket. And you may not know it but bringing people together is at the forefront of Cadbury’s mission. It’s always looking for new ways to innovate and inspire the people of Great Britain… and being the ‘nation’s favourite chocolate’, they thought there was no better way to create their next iconic bar, than to ask us all what we love the most.
You can pick from a wide range of wacky (and some more classic) ingredients, which are all available to see at www.cadburyinventor.com. These include everything from gooey brownie, crazy popping candy, spicy chilli, lychee, Dijon mustard and edible glitter, to raspberries, raisins and almonds…
There are a whopping 90,000 different available combos, and once you’ve selected your ingredients you can then name your bar, talk about the inspiration behind your creation and then submit your entry…kaboom!
If you’re lucky enough to be one of the 3 finalists, you’ll be invited to visit Bourneville, the home of Cadbury, work with the Chocolate Experts (can I just interject here – I am certain that if a BECOME A CHOCOLATE EXPERT had been an option at school, I would have been all in. Who do I need to talk to? Syllabuses need amending) to play around and experiment with your creation in order to make your dream chocolate bar a reality.
Then, all three finalist’s invented chocolate bars will be available to purchase when the whole of the UK and Republic of Ireland will get the chance to try them and vote for their favourite… and THEN, one of the finalists will be crowned the champion!
And what would you win? Well, your chocolate bar will be available to buy in supermarkets in 2020 for a minimum of one year and you will receive a YEAR’S SUPPLY OF YOUR AMAZING CREATION! (So think carefully about your choccy bar and make sure you love it, as you may end up having a lot of it in your kitchen cupboard!)
I’ve been giving this a LOT of thought (you can imagine) and I’ve come up with what I think could be the winning bar. So really, I shouldn’t share it with you. But I will. Because I trust you.
I’ve named my chocolate bar ‘Christmas Cracker’ and it is inspired by all things Christmas! I’ve flavoured it with cloves, cranberries and a good sprinkle of popping candy, to help us all get into the Christmas spirit! Christmas is very much at the soul of me, so it was an obvious theme to go with… what would you choose?
If you win, your chocolate bar would sit alongside family favourites such as the iconic Cadbury Dairy Milk itself, Caramel, Fruit & Nut and Whole Nut.
The competition finishes at the end of September, so quick! Head over there now and enjoy inventing your chocolate bar – I can’t wait to see what you all come up with and whose winning bar will be hitting the shelves in 2020!
