Baskets in Bloom at Mimi Mei Fair
*pr invite

I know I know. I don’t ever stop eating. I KNOW. And this lunch was one of the most special and unexpected surprises! Mimi Meifair stands on Curzon St, a Georgian townhouse in the heart of beautiful Mayfair, and looks from the outside as though it’s going to be a smallish unassuming restaurant on the inside… but HA! Mimi fooled you!
Mimi is a Chinese Empress (she’s not really, but just go with it) who is welcoming and hosting guests at her private residence. Lucky me. This fictional empress is the creation of owner, Samyukta Nair, who, along with her team, has created this beautiful experience.

Mimi Meifair is an explosion of colour and joy and gorgeousness and I couldn’t stop snapping.
Stepping off London’s busy Curzon Street into the resplendent rooms of MiMi’s private residence, MiMi Mei Fair is marriage of Chinese stylings from across the decades with China’s rich food heritage.

The kitchen is led by Chinese-Singaporean Executive Chef Peter Ho, who brings years of experience from the Michelin starred Lei Garden Singapore, My Humble House Beijing as well as HKK and Hakkasan London… and the food was exceptional. We were also one of the first to try MiMi Mei Fair’s new weekday lunch menu, Baskets in Bloom!

The menu is inspired by the age-old, respected ritual of lunchtime dim sum feasting from the Cantonese kitchens in Guangzhou and Hong Kong where Peter Ho was trained, and we welcomed in the sunny weather by enjoying three different types of dim sum: Canadian Scallop Dumplings with bamboo shoot; Prawn & seasonal asparagus; and Garlic-Chive Chicken Dumplings.

We then enjoyed Sichuan Suffolk Corn-Fed Chicken & Cashew Nuts or vegetarian-friendly Clay Pot Black Bean Aubergine, alongside sides of Olive Fried Rice and Crunchy Seasonal Vegetables.

You have the option to pair your lunch with NV Alfred Gratien Brut champagne (which we did) or a traditional selection of options from their bespoke Chinese tea menu, such as High Mountain Oolong, White Elixir or Ceylon Orange Pekoe.

Lunch is served between 12 – 3pm, Monday – Friday and it is a real treat. Mayfair restaurants can sometimes feel a bit heavy and stuffy… but Mimi Mei Fair is light, bright, glorious, delicious, fun and very very special. I felt as though I had been transported to another land… (most likely China, but with a sprinkling of magic).
One to book, gang!
