Christmas Tree Day with my little elf
Did you know that before the 19th century, Brits didn’t even put up a Christmas tree? Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert was the first to bring one to the UK, around the 1840s after a visit to Germany – it was a gift for Queen Victoria… (lucky sausage).
I love Christmas trees. I love what they do to our house and how they lift our spirits… Ours is from Green Elf Trees – it smells wonderful and fits just perfectly. Every Green Elf Tree is delivered by an out-of-work musician or entertainer and you can choose to support a charity of your choice when you purchase one. Oh and they’ll also come and collect it after Chrimbo and they’ll compost it to enrich the London soil for the next generation of trees! The tree itself is absolutely stunning, so incredibly lush and vibrant – you can really see that it’s been lovingly looked after. And while it’s in my care I shall be doing the very same.
Today was Christmas Tree Day! The day to decorate and ‘Christmasfy’ the home… and I did so with Izzy’s help! A huge thank you to Cath Kidston for sending us their new Harry Potter jim jams we could match in – we stayed in them ALL DAY and I’m still in mine now, watching Antiques Roadshow, drinking tea on the sofa and feeling very festive and cosy indeed.
