Sloane Place x Lee Westcott: a match made in foodie sleepover heaven

A few days ago I scampered off to London town for a night away, all on my ownsome, with no cares in the world. I couldn’t wait. I threw a few things into a suitcase, packed my laptop (I would be working from there a little) and charger, and phone charger, and camera charger, and back up charger for all my other chargers… and I think I may need a new case just for my chargers.

Sloane Place is a boutique hotel and restaurant is tucked away in an historical Chelsea brownstone in the most perfect spot in London. Just around the corner from Sloane Square station and on the doorstep of all my favourite shops, galleries, boutiques and streets… especially at this time of year – nowhere does the run up to Christmas quite like Chelsea.

I stayed in one of their suites, which was such a treat. It was like having my own little flat in Chelsea – I was very sad to leave!

Their elegant Suites are spacious and bright with a separate little lounge, which gave the whole suite a massively luxurious feel. I was treated to a large in-built wardrobe, a writing desk, two (!) 40-inch smart TVs and a beautiful and large bathroom with bathtub, walk-in rain shower and two sinks… I was VERY sad to leave.

You may think that the cost of the suite would be extortionate, but actually, I was pleasantly surprised – do have a look at some dates for a little staycation as I think you will be too 😉

I took my Elizabeth Scarlett velvet eye mask and pouch for an extra dollop of luxury…

My cousin came to meet me in the restaurant downstairs for dinner and she too had left her toddler at home, so we were both on a bit of a freedom high. Bernhard Mayer is the resident chef at Sloane Place and the food was absolutely wonderful – you can see the full menu here.

The restaurant itself is gorgeous and a real neighbourhood favourite – definitely pop it on your must-visit list, for next time you’re nearby – it was fantastic and the perfect spot to meet friends for a special dinner and cocktails.

My delicious breakfast the following morning

It’s no wonder that while quietly winning hearts as one of Chelsea’s best new eateries, Sloane Place caught the eye of Chef Lee Westcott, who will be in residence for a series of exclusive dinners from tomorrow, 17th – 20th November 2021.

Westcott is one of the UK’s most in-demand chefs, following critically acclaimed tenures at the Typing Room in Bethnal Green and Pensons in Herefordshire, where he earned a Michelin star after only seven months. His menus celebrate British produce with both innovation and artistry and I will never stop apologising to him for not recognising him at Wilderness Festival, where I sat next to him at a dinner banquet and proceeded to tell him all about a wonderful chef called Lee Wescott, who had a wonderful restaurant called The Typing Room, which I very much wanted to go to… without realising that it was him. True story. Sorry Lee.

“It’s exciting to have Lee in the kitchen with us.  We take pride on serving delicious fresh food influenced by our team’s global provenance, and Lee’s menus are clearly inspired by his experience and adventures.” – Sloane Place Executive Chef, Bernhard Mayer

Some dishes on the six course menu include:

  • Crab, roasted cep and cured egg yolk tartlet
  • IPA sourdough, marmite butter and roasted yeast
  • Beetroot, endive and smoked cream

“It is great to be part of Sloane Place’s story at the moment when people are discovering this hidden gem in central London. I’m thrilled to be back in a London kitchen working alongside the Sloane Place team for this takeover series.” – Lee Westcott

A six-course dinner including a glass of Gusbourne Twenty Sixteen Brut Reserve is £75 per person. Booking is essential and can be done via the Sloane Place website www.sloaneplace.com

Thank you so much for having me, Sloane Place.. and I can’t wait to see you later this week for Lee Westcott’s special Supper Club!
