Our beautiful Whitstable holiday cottage

Team. We only went and did it 🙂 What a journey. What a ride. Countless hours of choosing wood stains and bathroom tiles and shades of white paint (true story) and battling with builders and wiring and broken floors…and finally, FINALLY, we are live on Airbnb and still can’t believe that we have such a beautiful little Whitstable holiday cottage in the very heart of Whitstable. Someone pinch me.
Let me show you around and I’ll tell you all about our beautiful Belle Cottage!

Belle Cottage in Whitstable is a 3 bedroom house, with one king, one double and full size single bunkbeds. But first, here’s our bright and spacious living and dining area…

Our very squishy sofa is from Loaf

We are well stocked with plenty of games for both grownups and children…

Our double room is up in the attic
And Ella, Billie and a few more of the greats are waiting for you…

We had a small room, which we could have put just one single bed in, but we opted for bunks – largely because of my childhood love of them. Bunkbeds meant holiday and excitement and fun fun fun… so it was an easy call to make 😉
We had a real challenge with our kitchen – you can see how it used to look here. But after much mulling over with the team at Plykea, and a little bit of self-designed (LM, not me) joinery, executed by local company Coach House Joinery, we couldn’t be more delighted with the finished result.

The handles are also from Plykea

When it came to the bathroom, we wanted to create a proper sanctuary. A place to relax and indulge. And also a place where you could bathe small children at the end of a sunny beachy day! Oh and we love cast iron roll top baths, so…

We have Bramley hand soap and hand cream in the bathroom and the kitchen. It smells totally gorgeous. I find myself washing my hands far more than is necessary!

And the cherry on top for the children at Belle Cottage, is our play den. It’s tucked away at the bottom of the garden and transforming the run down-shed into a little haven of play and happiness might be the most fun I’ve ever had!

Every Play Den needs strawberry curtains. Fact.

We are over the moon with what we’ve created in Whitstable – it was not easy and took far longer than we had hoped (many booooring builder stories for another day) but we did it and we made it and we are so proud of ourselves.
So if you are ever looking for a little holiday cottage in Whitstable – somewhere to call home while you explore this pretty corner of Canterbury… I’d love to have you 🙂
Welcome to the world, Belle Cottage. You’re a bit of a beauty.
