Our Holiday Cottage in Whitstable!

Whitstable holiday house

For those of you who don’t follow me on Instagram, this is likely going to come as a bit of a surprise! But for the past few years, LM and I have been trying to buy a little holiday house somewhere, which we could go and escape to, enjoy with our friends and family and also rent out to people wanting to visit the seaside.

Having somewhere by the sea is something we’ve always dreamed of, especially since having Izzy, and I can’t believe I’m actually saying this, but after knock-back after knock-back and disappointment after disappointment, it finally became a reality… We completed a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been whizzing backwards and forwards to Whitstable ever since! We did it! We really did it. And ooof there is MUCH to be done!

Our holiday cottage in Whitstable is a 3 bedroom Victorian terrace a few minutes walk from the beach and it sleeps 6 people. We will be renting on Airbnb when it’s completed (hopefully by the beginning of October) and want to make it as gorgeous and homely and relaxing and beautiful as we possibly can… I am SO EXCITED. We have named it ‘Belle Cottage’, after my Grandma and Izzy and have set up an instagram for it (@belle_cottage_whitstable) so you can follow along with the renovation journey, if you’re at all interested in paint samples, floorboards and light fittings!

We have already started work on property – new kitchen, new bathroom, new floor etc… but I managed to take a few snaps before it all began… welcome to Belle Cottage!

This is the front room – lots of lovely natural light and will be our lounge and dining areas…

Our kitchen is a small galley kitchen, for which we have big plans!

The stairs and the whole of the upstairs were all covered in this carpet. It’s in good condition and we really like it. We absolutely would have kept the carpet in all the bedrooms and landing had we not uncovered beautiful original Victorian flooring!

Look what was hiding under the carpet!

This is the smallest bedroom and where we will put adult bunk beds. It’s a small room, but when we saw it fully furnished, it worked really well as a bedroom, which was good to see.

This is the 3rd bedroom upstairs, which is in the eaves and will have a double bed. We are keeping the carpet!

We have this incredible ‘lean-to’ addition attached to the house, which will be a perfect storage space for all the things our Airbnb guests may or may not need… e.g. cot, high chair, drying rack, hoover, baby changing mat… all suggestions to be Dmd to me immediately!

And here is our garden! And yes, that’s a whole other shed at the bottom of the garden, that I’m thinking of transforming into a bar! But watch this space…

Ta da!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the grand tour of Belle Cottage… I will be reporting back over the coming few months and showing you the progress we’re making…and also introducing you to Whitstable, if you don’t already know it.

It’s all very exciting and I can’t stop pinching myself!

I’m off to buy a tap now. Back soon… xx
