Slowing down Fast Fashion at Livat Hammersmith

Throughout the month of August, Livat Hammersmith ran a ‘Refresh & re-love’ campaign, aimed at showing visitors how to refresh their homes and wardrobes for Autumn, with a focus on sustainability and re-use.
 
There was a range of activities for children and adults on offer that showcased how you can prepare for Autumn in an affordable and sustainable way.

 We all know that the rising cost of living will impact many and Livat have been offering ideas for living more affordably as well as providing free activities for children to entertain them over the school holidays.
 
There aren’t many shopping centres around that do that, now are there?

I attended the session – ‘Revamp your Autumn Wardrobe, which showcased, taught and inspired us to upcycle their unloved clothes, giving them a new lease of life. It was led by a Craft Workshop Leader and we brought along items of clothes from our wardrobes, to give them makeovers so we could love them longer.

Attendees learnt learning simple stitching techniques, how to tailor items, or even personalise them with different prints and patterns. It was a clothing surgery!
 
Livat Hammersmith opened in February 2022 and is the first meeting place in the UK from global brand, Ingka Centres. It brings a little taste of Sweden to Hammersmith and now, having been open for around six months, the new meeting place has found its place in the local community and the wider retail space. It provides the people of Hammersmith with a vibrant new a space where they can come together to not only shop but eat, relax, have fun and spend time together.
