Welcome to Piccadilly, Richoux

Richoux has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I used to go to this 100 year old British institution with my grandpa, with cousins, with friends and on my own for a coffee or sandwich… and then when Covid hit and I realised that it was no longer where it had stood for so long, I assumed the worst had happened. But NO! Richoux is very much alive and well and has recently opened on Piccadilly – a more perfect London location I never did see.

Staying true to its heritage of modern brasserie dishes and exceptional patisserie, the new custodians of the brand, Jamie Butler and Lewis Spencer, have brought new life to the restaurant, using their experience in some of the world’s top restaurants to create a Richoux that is new, gorgeous and even more delicious 😉

“We are beyond excited to be opening the doors to such an iconic British institution; it’s quite unbelievable that our first venture together as Chef Partners will be in a restaurant with such a high reputation as Richoux – no pressure! After having the privilege of working under some of the finest chefs in the world, we can’t wait to take the next step in our careers, using the skills we have learned to bring a little slice of luxury at affordable prices back to Piccadilly!”

At the back of the restaurant is an elegant bar, reminiscent of old school Parisian cafes, providing the perfect spot for a pre or post supper cocktail 😉

The food was delicious and I loved the menu – there are now fewer options and feels far less overwhelming! Hanging out in cafes with my friends and enjoying good food and chatting about everything and nothing and not feeling like we have to vacate our table with a time pressure looming over us, is my absolute favourite thing. We ate and laughed and marvelled at all the incredible pastries that kept passing by on gleaming silver trays… we loved it. And also loved how casual and elegant it was in equal measure. You could turn up in jeans or a swishy twinkly dress and would feel comfortable and extremely welcome (such a smiley bunch that greeted us!)

Allow me to introduce you to the ‘Cruffin’ – a hybrid of a croissant and a muffin…

It’s the perfect spot for lunch with friends, a date, romantic supper, casual supper with your pal, tea and cake before a shopping spree, coffee with your mum… it ticks every single box for me.

Thank you so much for having us, Richoux.

It was dreamy.
