Flat Iron X Winemakers Club

Wine and steak are one of this land’s great partnerships. It’s a wonderful marriage, with no niggles or squabbles… it’s a cosy, relaxed, divine combo.
And hip pip for Flat Iron and The Winemakers Club, who have come together in a joyful union to offer stunning wines and tender bavette steak at a new venue in the city – a mere hop skip and a jump from Liverpool Street station.
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a twinkling bar and this lady, who was masterfully destroying ice for a Blood Orange Old Fashioned before my very eyes.
The set up is different to the other Flat Iron restaurants, by way of their simple and UTTERLY DELICIOUS set menu, comprising of gorgeously buttery baguette steak, beef dripping chips, side salad and a heavenly bernaise sauce…

The wine list, which is curated by the Winemakers Club, is extensive. They love to champion wines and vineyards that aren’t that well known and charge all the bottles at a flat-rate markup, making the high quality wines often more affordable – I loved this blackboard which shows all kinds of information about their wines that wouldn’t have even occurred to me to ask… their wines are available either by glass, carafe or magnum!
For pudding, there’s a ridiculously amazing Cru Virunga Chocolate Mousse with Amerena cherries…served with lashings of thick cream.

Even if you think you’re full, you’re not.
You’re really, really not.
