Today Bread has long been one of my favourite daytime haunts for coffee, cake and all kinds of yumminess in the Stow. So when I heard that Lacy Nook were popping up with their pop-up at said establishment in the evenings, I did a little celebratory leap and whizzed off there for dinner last week.

Elena, the owner, is Walthamstow based (has been for 13 years) but originally from Macedonia. Her philosophy is all about sharing moments with your friends and loved ones and so she’s created a space for us to do this very thing in her neighbourhood, while eating her delicious wares…
“Being from the Balkans, food has always been central part of my life and culture. For me food evokes memories of childhood, family, friends, celebrations, love, happiness and joy. Waking up every day with the thought of eating something that will make you smile is one step closer to good life. To me food never gets boring.”
-Elena Smileva

She combines Balkan cooking with Asian and Middle Eastern hints and flavours, with the results being extraordinarily delicious food, intense, all consuming aromas and tastes, and lots and lots of vibrant, colourful ingredients.

Everything was absolutely delicious and cooked to total perfection. We sat and chatted and marvelled at our meal… and although we thought we may have over ordered, we were wrong – we devoured everything.

Thank you for having us, Lacy Nook. We loved it.
Welcome to Walthamstow!
Lacy Nook is at Today Bread every Thur – Sat from 6:30 – 10.30pm until 21st December 2019.
