Bonnie Gull – an actual seafood shack(in Soho)

I’m allergic to oysters. And Chloé is allergic to crab and lobster. So we thought we’d make the perfect pair to pop into Bonnie Gull‘s seafood shack in Soho and between us, try as many of the dishes as we could possibly manage.
And we loved it.

Tucked away on Bateman Street in the heart of Soho is Bonnie Gull – and if it weren’t for the bustling traffic and noise of the locals on their lunch breaks, you’d be forgiven for thinking that you were sitting beachside in a shack in Cornwall…the fish was so fresh, the smells so vibrant and the oysters looked as though they’d just been fished out of the Atlantic ocean…

We perched ourselves up at the bar and watched as the wizards in the kitchen (just on the other side of bar) whipped up all kinds of deliciousness, while chatting away to you if you so desire.
This is the little brother of the bigger branch in Fitzrovia – but just because it’s small, does not mean it isn’t mighty. It IS mighty. And full of punchy flavours, exciting textures and delicious combinations…

Each dish worked really well as a sharing dish, which is not what you might expect for a fish restaurant – there’s something extremely sociable about sharing plates of scrumptiousness and keeps the vibe happy and casual… (unless someone eats more than their fair share. Then you could be looking at war. Not very sociable).

Every dish was delicious and the veggie sides were pretty whizz bang too.
It’s the perfect spot to meet a pal for lunch, have a dinner date, or just pop in on your ownsome, pop yourself up at the bar and guzzle oysters til you pop.
