A new community baking site (And the cutest bunny baubles)

Baking is something that I have always, always loved. Whether I’ve been watching my grandma, falling in love with GBBO, having a go myself or eating the triumphs (and occasionally less than triumphant wares) of friends and family, baking is something that has always brought nothing but sheer joy to my little world. Birthday cakes, Christmas puddings, Get Well Soon and Just Because cakes, cookies and crumbles… I love them all.
When I was small, my baking responsibilities ranged from drawing round the tin and cutting out the baking paper, to mixing, counting cherries (clever mum) and licking the bowl… and I remember making my very first cupcakes, which were straight out of my Peter Rabbit recipe book. I think every bit of me and the kitchen got covered in icing that day… but not much managed to land on the cakes themselves, sadly…

If baking fills your heart and tummy with joy, then you’ll be pleased as punch to know that there is a new online baking community that rewards you for baking, called We Bake (think a cross between Facebook and Instagram) which is the first ever baking social media platform. It’s a place where baking is celebrated, bakers can be coached and inspired and where you can share your homemade victories with other bakers from all over the country. You create a profile, follow other bakers and even win prizes and get access to special exclusive events!

It doesn’t matter how good a baker you are – the community is open to everyone, from total novices to experts. I am somewhere in between, but definitely closer to the novice. (I’m an expert in getting cakes sticking to baking tins…)

There are all kinds of challenges and rewards to be had, and this Christmas I joined in with their Bake a Bauble community challenge! (I do like a challenge). I chose to make Christmas Forest cookie baubles and have used all kinds of clever Dr Oetker products to make them twinkle, glimmer and shine…

50 lucky participants will have their edible Christmas decoration hung on the We Bake Christmas tree, displayed in London’s Westfield shopping centre.
My bunny bauble recipe is over on my We Bake profile… and please don’t feel you have to stick to any particular size or theme – you can be as innovative as you like!
To join in the fun, just become a We Bake member, bake yourself a brilliant bauble and enter the challenge.

I can’t wait to see what clever creations you all come up with…
This post is sponsored by Dr Oetker and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
