Etsy Everyday Emporium

You may recall how much I love Etsy and their ethos from my previous post, where I also beeped loudly about how excited I was about their forthcoming pop up and how you wouldn’t have to buy anything with actual MONEY but instead with an INSTAGRAM snap…
Well, last week saw their Etsy Everyday Emporium hit the streets of Fitzrovia, which was the source of MUCH excitement, some very long wiggly queues of people peering through fogged up windows before opening hours, and some narrowly avoided fisticuffs… (Not really, but is good for drama).
I visited the pop up on Friday, which was MUG DAY. And as you well know, mugs are exceptionally high up on my list of Absolutely Favourite Things. Spoons are also there, as are butter dishes, milk jugs and Robert Redford in The Way We Were.







As I walked in, my heart did a little leap, for here, there and everywhere were mugs mugs mugs. Big mugs, small mugs, wonky, mini and friendly mugs… all displayed beautifully and all 100% unique, created by clever Etsy makers from all over the UK.







There was just one of everything, so it was no wonder that the queue outside was growing into a snake around the corner, full of mug-lovin folk who wanted to snap up their own original partner in tea.

The space itself was designed beautifully, with plenty of photo op corners dotted around, to inspire some beautiful Instagram photos. Everyone who used Instagram to secure their purchase used the hashtag #DifferenceMakesUs, so do have a look on Insta and you’ll see who bought what! Here’s one from Saturday – Cushion Day!

 
The Etsy Everyday Emporium is part of the global Difference Makes Us campaign, which highlights Etsy as the marketplace where there’s something for everyone, and someone for everything. Celebrating the differences that make us unique.
I think that the idea of soulmates isn’t just for people, but for THINGS too. You can fall in love with a mug, a cushion, a clock… and that doesn’t make you peculiar.
It makes you special.
Difference TOTALLY makes us.
