Charlotte Tilbury x Norman Parkinson: Two magicians of light

I don’t get up at the crack of dawn for just anyone. Not even if there are pastries, brekky treats and fresh coffee… (actually, I might – especially if there is some kind of almond croissant situation going on.)
But a special collaboration between two artists of beauty and light – nothing could stop me.
Yesterday morning I found myself at the preview of the new Charlotte Tilbury collection, which she has created in collaboration with Norman Parkinson – one of the most legendary fashion photographers of the 20th century. He worked with every iconic beauty imaginable between the 1930s -80s on seminal fashion shoots from Pirelli Calendars to Vogue covers.

Rome, Italy, 1955 – Norman Parkinson
Norman’s grandson Jake is a good friend of Charlotte Tilbury, and after banging their heads together for a bit, they came up with the idea of creating a limited edition line in homage to Parkinson’s incredible work. This is a bit of a dream come true for Tilbury, who has always been fascinated and inspired by him – she, along with so many others, have turned to him as a reference and for inspiration again and again… and as she spoke about him, her eyes lit up and she seemed to fizz with excitement….

As she talked more, she explained how she believed Parkinson to be an alchemist with light and she wanted to bottle this amazing both-enhancing magic of his lens. The glow, the soft focus, the gentle warm light – she wanted to capture the DNA of those wonderful icons, and deliver it to you and me, so we can look EXACTLY LIKE JERRY HALL.
Brilliant.

The entire collection will be available online at www.charlottetilbury.com in July and will be hitting down in Selfridges in August…
But you’d better be quick! Coz once it’s gone, it’s really, really gone…
