A London Staycation, Trainspotting & a decadent Lemon Posset – My Week in Pictures –

Week-in-Pictures-Lemon-Posset-Heirloom-Crouch-End
A very decadent lemon posset at Heirloom, Crouch End

Happy beautiful Monday to one and all! The sun is out! Weeeee! I am typing this from a very charming little cafe in Holborn, smack bang in the hubbub of it all… buses are trundling along, cars are tooting and there seem to be a rather large number of cyclists bombing along without wearing a helmet… these aren’t little country roads people! Here you go, pop over to Tokyo Bikes and get something jazzy.
I love London in September. Especially now, in these hazy late Summer days and I intend to make the most of them!  My week began with the picture above. It was the finale at the end of a delicious Sunday lunch at Heirloom in Crouch End.  This British restaurant has a gorgeous rustic-feel to it and they grow all their own veggies on Hazeldene Farm in Buckinghamshire. The food was fresh and fragrant and if you’re into craft beer, they’ve got lots.. as well as an ever changing selection of natural bio-dynamic (I looked it up as well) and old world wines…
London Edition Hotel - London Staycation - Poppy Loves
London EDITION hotel

This stunning room at the London EDITION was my home last weekend, for the most beautiful and luxurious London staycation…  LM and I had an absolutely wonderful time and you can read all about my stay here on my blog.
China Town - Poppy Loves
China Town, Soho

During our little London jaunt at London EDITION, we popped out for Peking Duck and Pancakes – one of my most favourite meals. It may well be my Desert Island Meal. (Although, I suspect ducks may be hard to come by.) I snapped this picture last weekend, as we strolled through China Town… just love the vibrancy of it. If only you could hear the sounds and smell the aromas that I was experiencing at this moment too.. come on iPhone – perhaps in the next update..?
Trainspotting at Westbourne Park Station
Trainspotting at Westbourne Park Station

Monday morning arrived and I was back in the swing of things… I was at Westbourne Park Tube Station on my way into the city and loved this scene of all the little people waiting for their trains… all that’s missing is Thomas and the Fat Controller…
Hummus Bros recipe book - Levantine Kitchen
The new recipe book from Hummus Bros

It was great to catch up with the lovely people at Hummus Bros. They have just launched their new, beautiful (it really is) recipe book – Levantine Kitchen – and they have given me some copies to give away! I’ve already given one away in Poppy Loves Book Club, so keep your eyes peeled for the competition this week here on the blog. (Hint: you might want to find me on Facebook too for an extra chance of winning…)
Lisa's on Portobello
Lisa’s on Portobello

That evening I met with a couple of chums at Lisa’s on Portobello Road for dinner. Lisa’s is a charming, light and cosy Swedish kitchen and bar, which I love. These distressed white floorboards are throughout the restaurant and give the place a real sense of light and airiness. It’s such a pretty place to sit, eat and catch up with friends… especially when one of your pals is half Swedish!

We nibbled on these plantain chips, before tucking into matje herring, vodka and beetroot cured salmon tartar and (of course) heavenly Swedish meatballs… you can see Lisa’s full menu here.
South Molton Street - Poppy Loves
South Molton Street looking gorgeous

The next day I found myself on South Molton Street, pictured above. I was on my way to a meeting but couldn’t help but pause to take a snap of this incredibly photogenic street. Even on a cloudy, misty morning, this London street seems to shine with elegance and the promise of beautiful finds…
The Powder Room at Fenwick on Bond Street
The Powder Room at Fenwick on Bond Street

After my meeting, I popped into the beautiful powder room at Fenwick. I do like a posh loo, and these are not just posh, but very pretty too…
CleverlyWrapped - super stylish scarves
Win this scarf from CleverlyWrapped

I was thrilled to discover CleverlyWrapped – a new British company, from Harriet Cleverly. I’m running a competition on my blog at the moment to win this beautiful scarf. It ends this Friday, so do head over to this blog post if you’d like to enter…
Water fountains in Granary Square, King's Cross
Water fountains in Granary Square, King’s Cross

Friday saw me running to King’s Cross for another meeting with someone VERY clever who knows about all kinds of clever things – we met in The Grain Store, (which I LOVE) on Granary Square.
These magical dancing fountains are in the square and I loved the hypnotic effect they were having on this little chap. This open space is very special – there’s always lots popping up and surprising me, be it music, film or festival…
King's Cross, St Pancras Station
King’s Cross, St Pancras Station

King’s Cross is one of my favourite stations in London. So many people, so many trains… hustle and bustle and everyone wishing and whooshing… and amidst it all, a talented minstrel, while waiting for his train, playing beautiful music on the people’s piano…

I hope your weeks were full of fun and frolics and as ever, do follow me on Instagram if you’d like to come along with me on my journey…
If you’re short of things to do this week and you’ve already read London Timeout from cover to cover, don’t forget to have a look at my events page to get inspired… (and you can add your own event too…)
London today is shimmering in a warm sunny glow, so I’m going to leave this cafe now and feel the sun upon my face.
Have a wonderful week everyone!
