Urban Picnicking with Belgraves

On Sunday afternoon, Lovely Man and I strolled into Belgraves to pick up our Urban Picnic. Oh yes we did.
Belgraves is a chic boutique Thompson Hotel located in the pretty streets of Belgravia. To celebrate the gorgeous British Summer, Belgraves are inviting us (you and me) on a gourmet urban foodie adventure, to uncover some of London’s best kept inner-city secrets, while enjoying a heavenly picnic prepared by Pont St’s executive Chef, Sophie Michell.
The idea is that you leisurely stroll through the streets of Belgravia and collect your picnic from the hotel, then pootle off to one of the picnic spots recommended in the Belgraves’ Insider’s Guide to Urban Picnicking. London has many hidden treasures, and many of these are cited, including the rambling rooftop garden of the Queen Elizabeth Hall, St John’s Lodge in Regent’s Park and the very zen Kyotyo Gardens in Holland Park. (Om…)

I just could not wait.
“Hello! I’m Poppy and I’ve come to collect my Urban Picnic!”
I could not have been more excited.
The good people at Belgraves handed us the above cardboard hamper and off we scampered with our picnic and Sunday papers to Hyde Park – a short walk away – and sat down by The Serpentine. It was so much FUN not knowing what we were going to eat.. I had absolutely no idea about what treats lay in store..

And the wonderful addition of jam jar cocktails added something even more special…

It was such a glorious way to spend the afternoon.. we lazed about, eating our delicious lunch while taking in the peace and tranquility of Hyde Park..

And then it was time for dessert…

Holy moly. These were RIDICULOUSLY good. Heavenly. I could live on these. I’m fairly certain it covers off most of the food groups too. No?

Um. Wow. This looks INSANELY GREAT! This is so very Blake and I – a surprise picnic, a fantastic London picnic-ing destination, I can’t wait to save a little bit of money and indulge in this amazing weekend treat! Looks like the best ever way to spend a weekend… I hope I can save quickly to enjoy this before summer ends! Although something tells me this would be pretty great on a crisp British autumn’s day too…. Great review, loved it!

I just can’t decide what I want more! The lamb and salsa verde, or that strawberry and black pepper tart. It all looks divine!!

What a fantastic idea and perfect for a treat!! Sadly with my limited budget I’ll be sticking to the deli counter at Waitrose I think!
