Melt Room Grilled Cheese toasty
The Classic with crisp dill pickle

Good lord. This happened last week. In fact, it happened twice. And I documented the whole messy tale on Snapchat. For those of you that missed it, read on for story of bubble and ooze, which will guarantee you wanting to run to Soho NOW with your mouth wide open. It’s a look.

Melt Room, the brain child of entrepreneur and New Yorker Andrey Datsenko, opened its doors on Noel Street in Soho in May and is the first gourmet grilled cheese cafe to hit London town. Think New York-style cheese-stuffed hot sandwiches… yes. THOSE.
You pick your sandwich, they (the Melters) toast it for you, then you eat it and try to not get covered in cheese. Good luck with that.

Portobello mushroom, thyme, roasted peppers & provolone cheese – £4.50

Roast beetroot, hummus, broad beans, feta & rocket on rye sourdough – £4

Melt Room champions the best of British farmhouse cheese and the combos are super yum. Not just yum. Super yum. Signature Melts include The Classic (a unique cheese blend that I guzzled in about 5 minutes flat), slow and low lamb shoulder with mustard greens and melted Swiss and Pastrami with porcini, and Sparkenhoe Red Leicestershire and horseradish.
I loved it – I was happy as Larry (who’s Larry?) munching on my classic melt, and for £4 I thought it pretty terrific value.

There are also breakfast options, including the Full Works – a take on the full English with eggs, bacon, Keen’s Cheddar, HP relish and more…
I kicked off with The Classic and then (I know – there’s a ‘and then’) I had dessert in the form of a Nutella and Mascarpone melt…

Nutella and Mascarpone. Ridiculously delicious.

I think it was at this point that I started high fiving the air in time to the 90s rock anthems moshing out through the speakers…
Melt Room is in a brilliant location, inexpensive, completely delicious and amazing at what they do. It’s a super simple concept… and they’ve totally nailed it.
It’s Brie-liant.
Sorry. (Not sorry)
