Alice in Wonderland celebrates 150 years
Can you believe that Alice in Wonderland is celebrating its 150th birthday? That’s a very old white rabbit, right there.
To celebrate this remarkable anniversary, two designers have created something beautiful, magical and with an air of fantasy, just as Lewis Carroll would have hoped…
Vivienne Westwood has created an exclusive edition of this adored childhood tale featuring her own personally designed front cover and end papers.

They make you believe you could be in a parallel world – or that the world we think we know reflects the way we are programmed to see it. Maybe! It’s not like that at all” -Vivienne Westwood
The unique front cover was inspired by the Harlequin; a print synonymous with the Westwood brand since the 1980’s and has been deconstructed to echo the hazy, kaleidoscopic fantasy world that Alice inhabits in Wonderland. This special edition includes Through the Looking Glass as well as the original illustrations by Sir John Tenniel which were requested by Vivienne Westwood herself.

The second designer is Claudia Bradby, who has designed a pearl Alice necklace and bracelet set to mark this very important birthday.
And I love the whimsical sterling silver rabbit clasp… so sweet!
The Alice bracelet features beautifully shaped 4mm glowing white pearls, which catch the light and shine magically…
There are some wonderful events coming up, which will be celebrating 150 years of this very special book, for example, The V&A Museum of Childhood will be holding ‘The Alice Look’ exhibition from the 2nd of May, which will focus on the ways in which Alice has influenced style and fashion…
