Boots, Books, Blooms & A New Desk… My Week in Pictures
This week has been so busy, I feel as though my feet haven’t touched the ground. I know they have though, otherwise I’d have been flying and I know THAT can’t be true, because if I could have one super power it would be invisibility. NOT flying.
As always, I’ve been busy capturing my week on Instagram and here are some of my favourites for you to peruse with a cup of tea, hot chocolate, or a Dark and Stormy. (I have discovered that I really (really) like rum.)
Summer seems to be clinging on for dear life, but I’m not being a martyr; my Autumn boots and cosy tights were on last week, when I went to meet the ever so clever people at Hot Pickle at The Department of Coffee and Social Affairs in Farringdon for breakfast… (coffee + granola + yoghurt = happy Poppy.) They’re very clever you know… did you see that amazing Magnum pop up? That was them. Clever.
Last weekend you may remember it tipped down with rain. But not drippy droppy splashy fun rain – more the enormous-buckets-of-water-soaking-you-through-to-your-pants kinda rain. So LM and I holed ourselves up in The Coffee Works Project in Islington and bashed away productively on our laptops for hours, eyeing up everyone’s choice of cake (that may have just been me) and quaffing oodles of delicious coffee…
The next day we went for brunch with MBosh at Dean Street Townhouse in Soho – I’d never been before but had heard superb things.. and brunch did not disappoint. Perfect eggs, hamazing sausages and Bloody Marys with horseradish and dijon mustard. IMPORTANT: Do not order if you don’t like your Bloody Marys with a kick. It has a kick. Correction. It has a KICK.
This little Aspire Style treat arrived in the post and I haven’t been able to stop licking my lips ever since. Trying not to do this too much on the tube as it’s not a great look… I often find nice lip balms a bit tricky to find, but this one is not at all pricey (£4.99) and is made with natural shea and cocoa butters.
I live very close to where the Hammersmith and City and Circle lines trundle through. I snapped this while walking over the bridge towards Golborne Road, where I was heading to measure and buy a desk I’d had my eye on… I love trains. There’s something very nostalgic about watching trains from a bridge – I used to wave at them as a child. I still do. Don’t pretend you don’t.
And here’s my new desk! I bought it from Phoenix on Golborne and am still SO excited about having an actual place to sit and work. I do often work in local cafes and love doing so, but there is something very special and peaceful about having a spot at home that’s just for my work. It has made me feel energised, inspired and excited about future projects… (More on these soon… citing times!)

I bought some flowers for LM’s mum for her birthday, from Floral Studio on Portobello Road. I love this place – it’s not at all pricey and the range of flowers is vast… I have no idea what the flowers below are (apart from the roses) so so please do enlighten me if you are able – I was in too much of a rush at the time to ask – I just chose them based on their pinkness and prettiness and love how they all look together…
I took this photo on my way down to Notting Hill station, where I was heading on my way to town… I love the streets and pretty houses in my neighbourhood… and the weather was on form too, which definitely helps make this picture even more lovely, I think…
And while mooching around Selfridges, I spied this glorious range of luggage from Steamline – and promptly fell head over heels in love. Bam.
Friday morning I zipped round the corner to see my new-mummy-cousin Rosie, who’s doing amazing things with nappies, onesies and muslins. I had a cuddle with the gorgeous little (weeny!) man and then we ate delicious granola (Tesco Finest Seven Nut Granola – it was utterly scrumptious) and nattered away. T’was lovely and the perfect start to my day.
