A Covent Garden lunch at La Goccia

There are some spots in London that feel even more magical than others, and La Goccia is one of them. Just behind the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden and tucked away in a secluded courtyard, named aptly ‘Floral Court’, and it is indeed overflowing with beautiful flowers and plants… lies La Goccia. As you arrive you are walloped with the scent of delicious food and dishes inspired by the owners’ trips to far flung places…. and combine this with the heady notes of the many flowers surrounding you and the whole ‘secret garden’ vibe, you’d be forgiven in thinking you might be Alice entering Wonderland.

We sat outside and it was as though we were visiting friends and were enjoying lunch in their garden. La Goccia is somehow luxurious yet relaxed and casual all at once. I felt like I was on holiday.

The waiter explained to us that the menu is full of small plates for sharing – their interpretation of the Italian aperitivo and small plates known as ‘cicchetti’ – so we chose a few and they all arrived as and when they were ready. And it was all absolutely delicious.

We proudly follow a slow food ethos, & draw upon the principles of good, clean & fair. That means we source the best quality ingredients working closely with small & independent producers, including our own family farm & Cornish fishermen, buying line caught fish directly from the dock.

There is a strong emphasis on seasonality, which is key to the extensive menu that changes regularly with the very best seasonal produce…

La Goccia is t he brain child of Lara Boglione and part of the Petersham Nurseries group. It’s built on the slow living values of good, clean and fair and an unwavering respect for the planet, people and they take great care in ensuring their processes are sustainable.

It is the most beautiful spot to visit with friends and enjoy a delicious meal together. It’s a real occasion and I’ll say it again, I really felt as though I was on holiday!

Being one of the pioneers in the slow food movement, we celebrate traditional methods of growing quality ingredients. This ethos has flowed into building relationships with organic British suppliers and sourcing responsibly from small like-minded producers, including our own farm – Haye Farm Devon. Bringing the very best organic and sustainably produced meat and vegetables straight from the farm to our kitchens.

La Goccia Bar is now also open – tucked away behind a dark velvet curtain, the secluded space is the perfect spot to gather with your favourites, while enjoying signature cocktails inspired by seasonal ingredients…

The decor at La Goccia Bar draws inspiration from Petersham Nurseries’ horticultural heritage and understated grandeur.
The florals never end…always inspired by nature and evolving with the seasons, their thoughtfully curated cocktails are made using botanicals, herbs and edible flowers.
