I’m a bit of a fan of Japanese food, but it’s not always easy to find sensational Japanese fayre at an affordable price.
Especially in Mayfair.
So you can imagine my surprise when I was invited to Tokimeitē to experience their exquisite 5 course set menu, which costs just £40 per person….
And it was amaze.

Tokimeitē is brought to you by world famous Michelin starred Chef Yoshihiro Murata (one of the world’s top 100 Chefs) and ZeN-Noh, the Japanese agriculture cooperative – a perfect marriage.

The restaurant itself is headed up by Executive Chef Daisuke Hayashi with his team of experts, whose aim is to bring the spirit of Japan to your dining table in the ultimate, authentic dining experience. And they have absolutely nailed it.

Tokimeitē is one of London’s very few authentic Japanese Washoku (traditional cuisine) restaurants. They specialize in Kaiseki (the most refined form of Washoku) and add subtle European twists to create innovative dishes to blow your mind.

Amuse Bouche | Homemade Tofu with soy Dashi jelly

Hassun | Assorted starters

Main | Char-grilled Miso marinated Joshu Wagyu Rib-eye steak with salad

Chirashi Sushi | Assorted fish and seafood with mixed sushi rice

Soup | Mushroom Miso soup

Dessert | Homemade ice cream or sorbet

Served daily except Sunday (restaurant closed)  12PM- 14:30PM / 6PM – 7:00PM)

They use ingredients like the highly prized pure Wagyu beef (imported from Japan), authentic flavours and traditional techniques, which you can see happening in front of your very eyes… I loved watching the chefs at work.

The location itself couldn’t be more central and perfect – just off Regent Street and with neighbours like Sketch and Vivienne Westwood, you know you are in a very special place indeed.
The whole meal was truly exceptional and a wonderful treat to end a day of charging about London like a loon.
If you’re a fan of Japan – get thyself to Tokimeitē pronto – they’re running this very special menu until the end of Dec so you might want to get a wriggle on 😉
