The eighth door of Mayfair reveals one of the oldest covered shopping arcades in London. It’s beautifully glamorous at the best of times, but on the home stretch to Christmas  Burlington Arcade is looking more sparkly, shiny and irresistibly festive than ever…

I headed there to do a spot of Christmas shopping and was immediately mesmerised by the gleaming windows and stunning shop windows, decked out in all their finery for the holiday season…

Penhaligon’s feels like it’s Christmas, even when it’s not. So when it actually IS, it’s the perfect place to be and discover new fragrances and gifts for the special people in my life…
Started by William Penhaligon in 1870, he dreamt up ‘Hammam Bouquet’, their first scent,  in 1872 after inhaling the steam and sulphurous aromas of his neighbouring Turkish baths… and today you’ll find over 30 unusual and unique scents in every Penhaligon’s store…

Burlington Arcade transports you back in time to a bygone era, and i find it absolutely magical… You can imagine all the various folk that have visited over the many years… and when in a beautiful Victorian style shop like Penhaligon’s, it’s as though you’ve stepped into a time machine… (An extremely pretty one…)

I bought a couple of wonderful presents that day, but couldn’t resist popping into Ladurée before leaving… which is entirely understandable and a decision you just wouldn’t question if you have ever had one of their macarons…

I then hopped into a black taxi with all my bags, gifts and macarons, which took me to dinner, somewhere magical, and where there was guaranteed snow…
And I’ll be opening that ninth door of Mayfair tomorrow…
