Bubbles at The Barbican Brasserie by Searcys

I have been going to The Barbican since forever. I remember running through the brutalist surroundings as a child, finding the whole place quite spooky. But as an adult, I’ve always loved the ambience there, the feeling of creativity and the expanses of grey and clean lines…

I found myself there again last week, to celebrate the new arrival – The Barbican Brasserie by Searcys – which has taken over from the Italian restaurant, Osteria.

I regularly meet two dear friends for brunch or lunch and is where we can catch up properly, on life, work, challenges, ideas… it’s always a special meeting and this one was made even more so, thanks to the location, the delicious food and drink and the surroundings.

Located on the second floor of the Barbican Centre, the restaurant boasts wonderful of the iconic lakeside (such an intense colour!) and fountains, which I have always loved. The menu is full of Searcys British classics and delicious European dishes with a modern twist, using seasonal produce.

Everything was delicious and the accompanying champagne was a total treat. We nattered and chattered and put the world to rights… and then decided to order three pudding to share. Because, why not?

Many people only head to eat in The Barbican when they are there for an additional reason, like a show, cinema, exhibition etc… but this is a place to make a beeline for, no matter if you have other reasons to be in the neighbourhood or not. It was delicious. And did I mention the views?

Thank you so much for having us! We could have stayed for hours, just whiling the time away, eating and drinking and laughing together. It’s a very special little corner of London and was an absolute pleasure to be there.
