Thank you herdysleep, for my perfect luxurious snooze

Herdy Sleep Mattress
Bit by bit we are working through the various projects in our home, to transform it into a shiny spanking dilly of a Victorian terraced house.
We’ve done the floors upstairs, we’ve had our sash windows draft-proofed (and in our bedroom, double glazed – flippin expensive but it’s made the most incredible difference to our sleep) and some other smaller bits and pieces.

The mattress comes tightly rolled in a handy sized box

There is so much left to do and we’re currently hunting for builders to smash some stuff up for us, and while all this is going on, making sure we are getting enough quality sleep is vital.
I’m actually a really good sleeper (*bows*) but if I’m too hot/cold or just not comfy, then it’s pretty much game over. Which is why I’m so utterly thrilled with my new mattress from herdy sleep. Which they sent me to try, but as you know, I only ever write about things that I actually love. So I’m writing about this. Because I love it.

The very clever herdysleep have made the first rollable, luxury mattress. It’s traditionally tufted and hand-finished, so the quality is second to none. Two British companies came together to create this special mattress –  Herdy from the Lake District, and Harrison Spinks, the makers of luxurious mattresses. And together, they are an awesome team – a couple of their members are below:

Harold has 36 years’ mattress-making experience!

James’ speciality sits within the building, clipping and tufting steps of the mattress-making process, though he is currently expanding his skillset into tape edging too

The two companies together mean that  herdy sleep combines responsibly sourced materials with a level of luxury and craftsmanship never ever seen before in a mattress…. and it’s clear when you lie on it, that you’re lying on something very special indeed. It is SO comfortable!

Every mattress is made using a full fleece of wool from their flock of Herdwick Sheep from the Lake District. Wool’s soft and springy fibres mean that it springs back into shape after you’ve slept on it, and it naturally regulates heat – keeps you cool in the Summer and Warm in Winter. Clever clever clever.

We’re still using cardboard blackout blinds, until we find another blackout solution we like the look of – tricky business! Bed linen: Christy

This month’s Poppy Loves Book Club title – seemed appropriate 😉

Their wool is blended with cashmere and cotton so the mattress feel super cosy and luxurious – especially because they use a entire wool fleece in every one.
The mattress arrived in a box, the delivery men carried it upstairs to our bedroom, and all we had to do is snip open the plastic (carefully!) and BOOM! That’s it.
Done.
The mattresses are unbelievably comfortable, sustainable, chemical free, breathable, British and oozing with quality.
I can’t recommend them enough.
Oh, and they come with a 10 year guarantee too 😉

All bed linen is from Christy

I was sent a herdy sleep mattress to experience for myself and all thoughts and opinions in this piece are my own. In fact, I can’t say enough good things.
