Today I found myself back on Portobello Road, where I haven’t been for a few weeks… I’d missed it. I do think that the sun always seems to shine down on the Bello, no matter what the weather. It could be snowing in Walthamstow and I’m pretty confident that it would be blue skies and carnivals in W11.
I popped into Goode & Wright to meet a pal for lunch and celebrate the fact that I made it onto the Evening Standard’s list of top 25 London Lifestyle influencers to follow on instagram! This MADE MY DAY and I want to thank you all for your continued support of what I do – it means the world.
I was very excited to try their new menu, which I’d heard wonderful things about. The revamped ‘small plates menu’ has been crafted by incoming chefs Oren Goldfeld, who hails from Israel, and Spaniard Gabriel Muñoz Rodriguez.
Goldfeld has developed his own style of cooking – classic with some modern techniques and a mixture of Middle Eastern, European and Asian flavours – by cooking in global kitchens for the past 17 years.
He’s been behind the food at London’s Restaurant 1701, and Tel Aviv eatery Rokach 73 – so pop that down in your notebook, for the next time you visit Israel!
The menu was packed full of deliciousness and variety. We chose 3 dishes to share and loved every bite…
There is a beautiful light in Goode & Wright, with its big windows onto Portobello Road. The light streams in and it’s the perfect place to do a spot of people watching too…
The name Goode & Wright was inspired by a former school uniform outfitter from 1928 who serviced the adjacent Portobello School. Tipping their hats to the industrious Mr. Goode and Mr. Wright, the new owners have kept the original signage’s colours and typography. This is in keeping with their belief in the importance of protecting the character and independent nature of Portobello Road – something very important to many Londoners. They’ve also kept the beautiful original wood panelling inside…

I LOVE my new Bose Headphones – wireless, super comfy and noise cancelling. Amaze.
After lunch I had a little stroll down Portobello and ducked into St Luke’s Mews to take some snaps, before hopping on the no.7 bus to whizz me over to Oxford Circus…
The AW17 Ted Baker Press show was being held in the London Edition Hotel, where I stayed some months ago – it’s definitely one of my favourite hotels in London.
It was lovely to see all the new bits and pieces coming up for Ted Baker – I had no idea they did rugs! (Did you?)
More of their product is over on my insta stories, but don’t forget that it will vanish in 24hrs, so you need to be quick to catch it!
