Blooms for the soul

As the colder weather sets in, I have some tricks up my sleeve for keeping the Winter blues at bay and to ensure I don’t shrink into a lethargic slump… which I definitely have a tendency to do, especially as the days grow shorter and darker…
Trick number 1: Make sure I get outside every day to grab as much vitamin D as the weather allows… I grab a coffee, head out for a stroll and feel the cobwebs being blown away with every step.

Trick number 2: Wear clothes I love. It would be so easy to slob about in joggers and a tea-stained sweater, but getting up and putting on pretty pants (these help more than you’d think) and a favourite dress, makes me feel properly put together, happier and ready for the day.

Trick number 3: Make sure there are always fresh flowers in the house – the more the better, but really it’s whatever I find and what I can afford that week. Fresh blooms are a slice of Spring throughout the year and I love the fragrant aromas wafting from room to room…

Fresh flowers are my treat. Those and pedicures.
And pretty mugs.
And gigantic oozy burgers.

Your fireplace is looking gorgeous! And you’re right – fresh flowers are such a great pick-me-up and I feel like they immediately make a house look more grown up and put together. I’ve started buying them more lately and have definitely noticed the difference 🙂 x
