Diamonds are forever (It's a fact.)

The word ‘diamond’ comes from the Greek word ‘adámas’, which means unalterable, unbreakable and unconquerable. And in Greek mythology, diamonds were believed to be tears of the Gods… They are the hardest known substance on earth – nothing can beat them.
Not in strength, sparkle nor romance. Nada.

Diamonds are for eternity – they will last forever (they were born around 3.4 billion years ago, so they’re doing well so far) and have for a long time been a sign of wealth.
However, in more recent times, they have begun to stand for deeper, more important things – a link between past and future, an everlasting bond, love and romance…
And now, friendship.

Love can come when you least expect it. Sometimes it hits you between the eyes when you have only just met someone, and then friendship follows… Or, it can happen the other way around, when you begin to see an old friend in a different light, which can be a bit bewildering at first… but ever so magical… Think, When Harry Met Sally. (Love that movie).
To be in love with your best friend is something extremely special. It’s powerful, it’s magical, and as all good Fairy Godmother’s confirm, it’s unconquerable.

It is this notion that lies behind Signet’s new ring – Ever Us. Two diamonds, of equal size – one for friendship, and one for love.
The ring symbolises true, timeless love stories, the beauty of friendship and celebrates the magic of soulmates. This is not an engagement ring. It’s not a wedding ring. It’s just because.

The Greeks believe that Cupid has diamond tipped magic arrows, to draw hearts together and keep them intertwined…
But Cupid can put his arrows away – The Ever Us ring has got that well and truly covered.

That’s an utterly beautiful ring! And I never knew the etymology of ‘diamond’ before – the root of the word is so wonderfully symbolic 🙂 x
