I often feel as though I’m on holiday in London – there is so much to see, exciting things to do, and even when it’s pouring with rain, I know I’m somewhere magical.
However, I couldn’t have felt more like I was on holiday when I arrived at St Katharine Docks last week to meet my cousin David for dinner – what an amazing and unexpected place…
St Katharine Docks, is located just moments away from Tower Bridge and the Tower of London and overlooks the luxury yachts in Central London’s only marina…There is evidence of there having been a dock at St Katharine’s since 1125 (that’s a LONG TIME AGO) and one of its newest arrivals is Tom’s Kitchen – the 4th branch of Tom Aikens’ kitchen-deli-restaurants.
The ethos of Tom’s Kitchen is simple: they use the very best seasonal and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible and the restaurants work with British suppliers and farmers that are as passionate about growing as their chefs are about cooking…
The passion, flavours, freshness and quality of all the ingredients shone through everything we ate – our meal was absolutely delicious.
Our starters were gorgeous – fresh and light and extremely generous in size. We caught the sunset from our table and I managed to snap this picture from inside the restaurant – the view really made us feel we were away on hols….
Everything was presented simply and beautifully – the whole vibe of Tom’s Kitchen is very relaxed, yet also very special. Everything from the furniture to the food is unfussy, yet high in quality and style. I loved it.
I have learned (and I suspect you have too by now) that no matter how full I am I can never resist dessert… I just call upon my second stomach, and all is well. And, erm, because we couldn’t decide which desserts to have, we chose three. Oh, and we had tiramisu cocktails as well.
Don’t judge me.

THIS WAS INSIDE!! Ridiculously delicious. I may have eaten most of this one. And when I say most, I mean all.
Tom’s Kitchen on St Katharine Docks is the perfect place for a relaxed, cosy and delicious meal with friends, with a date, with your mum… or your cousin, if you’re lucky enough to have one.
If only I had my own yacht – we could have left the restaurant, hopped aboard and sailed off to The Caribbean in time for breakfast.

David and I were guests of Tom’s Kitchen, and if I hadn’t loved it I wouldn’t have written about it.
