Barbour's Very Handy Picnic Rug

It appears as though Summer has arrived! Woot toot! And on Saturday, after my run (yes I’m running again. Well, I’ve run twice. I intend to run a third time. Watch this space) LM and I headed to the park for a picnic with the papers, our books and my new super duper picnic rug from Barbour.
And it is super duper, for it does many a thing you would not expect a normal picnic rug to do…

This picnic rug has been named by Barbour, the ‘Rather Handy Picnic Rug’ and has been created using their famously durable wax cotton fabric… and it is more handy than you might think; It converts from a standard picnic rug into a hooded poncho, a dog towel and a wine cooler – so the unpredictable British weather won’t ruin your picnic with this rug about!

120 years ago, Barbour was founded by John Barbour, a Scotsman who saw a need for waterproof, reliable, hardwearing outerwear amongst working communities of the North East. In the past, fishermen had used stiff, badly wearing jackets coated with tar and fish oils. (Pongy.) The introduction of oilcloth meant a softer, more comfortable jacket with the same water repellency and added longevity…. and it is THIS clever stuff which this very picnic blanket is made of. It’s Barbour Magic.

66 of these Limited Edition Picnic Rugs are up for grabs in a competition that you can enter – simply share how you’re going to make the most of the summer using the hashtag #BarbourPicnicRug. That’s it! The competition ends on the 5th July, so quick! Get your tweet on.
Here’s a little video to show you all that this very clever picnic rug can do…
Happy picnicking to one and all…

// Posted in partnership with Barbour. And if I hadn’t loved it, I wouldn’t have written about it.
