Play dress up

I love wearing dresses. They are my favourite thing to wear for any occasion, whether I’m cooking, dancing or gardening (erm, potting plants on my balcony.) They make me feel swooshy. And swishy. And feminine (which is important when one is gardening.)
Being a girl in 2014 is not as easy as some might think. I like baking cakes. I love running my own business. I like chivalry. I like being in charge. Confused? I’m not. Girls are are made from sugar and spice and super powers. (Boys smell. Obviously.)
In an increasingly confusing world, where lines, rules and expectations for women are blurry, (in the words of my wonderful grandma, “Darling, you’re too independent”) I choose to celebrate this gorgeous and unmistakably womanly piece of clothing. Oh hurrah.
Here are a few quotes I have found which I thought you might enjoy.
“Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.” – Coco Chanel
“Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.” – Yves Saint-Laurent
“A woman’s dress should be like a barbed-wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view” – Sophia Loren
