Chocoholic Afternoon Tea at Pullman, St Pancras
To celebrate Chocolate Week (14th – 20th October) (and yes, chocolate week DOES exist, I didn’t make it up) (although you’d be forgiven for thinking that I had) the Golden Arrow Bar and Lounge at the Pullman Hotel at St Pancras have created a chocoholic’s dream of a High Tea.

And when I say chocoholic.. I mean CHOCOHOLIC. Chocolate éclairs filled with lavender cream, white chocolate cones overflowing with freeze dried raspberries, chocolate covered teardrops of sweet kirsch cherries… (are you still here? It’s amazing isn’t it!) chocolate scones, with Devonshire clotted cream and um, more chocolate on top… delectable petit fours and insanely delicious white and dark chequered chocolate slices. And breathe.
The chocolate used is the genuine Swiss Felchlin Grande Cru couverture made from the finest cacao in Venezuela. (Very posh. VERY yummy.) So not Cadbury. Not.
Obviously an essential part of a high tea is the tea. (I’m assuming the ‘high’ is the chocolate.) They have certainly gone to town on the tea as well – there is a wide selection of Chinese loose-leaf teas, from Earl Grey Yin Zhen and Jardin Blue to Darjeeling Steinthal (I know – I had no idea either) and Jasmine Yin Zhen… it was difficult to choose.
I opted for a delicious Chai tea, while Susannah (my chocolatey chum in crime) opted for Jasmine Flower.
The tea and the chocolate and the glass of Laurent Perrier made for the most perfect afternoon. I rolled off my chair and floated home on a chocolatey cloud… I may still be seeing chocolatey stars but I don’t care.
It was fabulous.
