Welcome Moba! London's first Asian/French Boulangerie
Last week I popped into the launch of London’s first ever (and it’s not often I can say that) Asian/French fusion Boulangerie on Goodge Street. And you should all know right now, that it’s really rather excellent.
MoBa is set up by two Parisian buddies, Theodore Charoy and Thibaut Voury. They met in Switzerland, hatched a plan and MoBa was born. They have managed to fuse together the warmth, rusticity and elegance associated with French cooking, with the fresh and simple tastes of Asian cuisine… Think Green Tea croissants. See? Clever.
They offer everything from traditional French ‘Viennoiseries’ to gorgeous and exotic flavoured pastries… (do try the Mango Cheesecake), Moba is offering a fusion takeaway that’s nutritious and reasonably priced in the very heart of Fitzrovia – on the corner of Goodge Street and Charlotte Place, to be precise.
The chaps have brought in more of their buddies (and one sister) to help with the baking, the creating and the organising of playlists, to ensure that you not only leave with a very happy tummy, but also with a great tune in your head..

If you’re looking for a gluten free option, they’ve got that covered too – I opted for this (as I was heading out for dins later so wanted to eat light) and chose a delicious salad with Thai beef bourguignon, crispy onions, homemade pickled veg, on a bed of iceberg lettuce…
“Bánh Mi is a sandwich that dates back to the French colonisation of Indochina – it’s actually a phonetic misspelling of ‘pain de mie’ which can be translated simply as ‘sliced bread’ “ Geoffrey Terrasson de Fougères – master baker, joining Moba on their London adventure.
So if you are wandering the streets of Fitzrovia with a grumbling belly and want to try something new and utterly delicious – go HERE.
It’s unlike anything I’ve eaten before in London and THAT is not something I can say very often either.

French/Asian mashup is so great when it comes to food- there’s an excellent place near my hometown in St Albans called Chez Mumtaj which does the most incredible French/Indian fusion food- Tikka Roasted Lamb Shank is just incredible!
