A Very Special Macmillan Coffee Morning – At Home With Sophie Conran –

Last year, over 154,000 people signed up to take part in a Macmillan Coffee Morning, to help raise money for the super duper wonderful organisation, providing medical, emotional, practical and financial support to those suffering with cancer – Macmillan.
Through coffee mornings alone, Macmillan raised over £20 million – and this year they’re hoping to smash it… so it was a no brainer for me when I received the invitation to a coffee morning at the most beautiful abode of Sophie Conran. I was there. There with bells on. And an empty tummy. (I suspected there might be a rather large amount of cake…. call me Columbo.)

There were so many delicious cakes, cookies and treats. Fresh coffee flowed, perfectly brewed tea was poured, conversations were had and links were made…
Everyone has a connection to cancer, it seems.  Some are closer to it than others, and some are experiencing it first hand. Whatever our individual situations, we were all there – old friends, new friends and family –  to talk, share, laugh.. and eat cake. (Which I should make clear, I am very good at.)

It’s impossible to not try all the cakes when all the cakes are staring at you.
Impossible.

A very big thank you Sophie Conran for organising such a special and important coffee morning, and of course a huge hurrah for Macmillan.
Hurrah hurrah HURRAH. Hats off. Wooly ones, berets, top hats and grandad caps. HATS OFF.
I’m so inspired, I’m off to plan my own coffee morning now… Is 9 cakes too many?
Didn’t think so.
