The Shop NW10 - jam jar cocktails
Last night I toddled down to The Shop in Kensal Rise with Hop-Along-Bill.  I say Hop-Along-Bill coz she had managed to bang her foot into a door (it was the door’s fault) and is now on crutches. So what better way to take her mind of the ouch, than with delicious jam jar cocktails and RIP ROARINGLY AMAZING Mexican food at one of the kookiest and coolest spots around Queen’s Park.

Colourful photography and art decorate the walls, cool tunes pump through the speakers and funky-looks-like-it-could-have-been-found-in-a-skip-but-actually-it’s-really-designer-cool-chic-amazing furniture make up the vibrant and eclectic interior of The Shop.
They have a fully stocked bar and specialise in inventive and ever so delicious cocktails in jam jars and milk bottles.  The cocktails all have great names too, Like ‘Wolf Pack’ and ‘Shop Credit’. I chose ‘Your Mum Rang’ which was a combo of Tovaritch Vodka, Lime Juice, Vanilla and Rhubarb syrup and ginger ale. Oh yes. Yes yes yes. Here’s a wee video of it, which I took on my Instagram,  being made, shaked and served…

They make virgin versions too, which are equally delicious.

Burritos, quesadillas, nachos, chicken wings, tacos and burgers make up this uncomplicated, yet extensive menu. It’s proper no-nonsense Mexican fayre, packed with enormous flavours and aromas which explode in your mouth like 80’s popping candy. I loved it. I am a complete sucker for Mexican food anyway, but the food we saw and dishes we chose were super duper top notch.

Sticky fingers central…

I could happily eat there every day of the week and with all the ingredients sourced locally, I was left with a rather wholesome feeling that I’d supported the local community while indulging in the most delicious meal…

So the next time you’re in the mood for a spot of Mexican, be it breakfast, brunch, lunch or dins, and a cocktail that tastes like it’s been made by the angels above, then head down to The Shop.
A hop, (especially for Bill) skip and a jump from Kensal Rise station – it’s an awesome foodie find.
