Big Beautiful Brunching at Lantana, Fitzrovia

Brunch is my middle name. It’s my favourite meal – you can eat it at any point from 9 – 3pm and this appeals to me greatly. No restrictions. Anything goes. Perfect. One of my favourite bunch spots of all time is Lantana, and last week I was invited back to their Fitzrovia cafe – one of the first establishments I ever wrote about on the blog, ten years ago! A bustling little cafe tucked down a pedestrianised lane off Goodge Street in Fitzrovia, just north of Soho, Lantana is very special and we were excited to go! (Izzy was mostly excited about going on the underground and the ‘excalator’, but that was before she was presented with the largest plate of avocado, toast and yumminess she had ever seen…)

Corn Fritters with Streaky Bacon – Stacked with streaky bacon, fresh spinach, roast tomatoes, smashed avocado & lemon crème fraiche

Shredded confit duck, fried egg, kale, roasted sweet potato, edamame, pickled red onion, plum ketchup crème fraiche & peanut sesame seed chilli crunch

Shelagh Ryan, Michael Homan & Caitlin Ryan, opened the first Lantana Cafe in 2008 to introduce to London everything they loved & missed about the thriving Australian cafe culture and they are now more committed than ever to their original vision. When Lantana opened in Fitzrovia, it was awarded as Time Out’s best new cafe in London. Since then it has welcomed a steady flow of loyal regulars & has, for a long time, been one of the places I tell all visitors to the city to visit. “GO TO LANTANA”, I say. “AND GET THE CORN FRITTERS”.
