Stepping into The Wilderness, with S.Pellegrino

You may know from my social babbling that I’ve just come back from the Wilderness Festival. I was a guest of S.Pellegrino, who were not only sponsoring the festival, but keeping all the revellers hydrated over the 4 days… mostly with water, and sometimes with the most delicious cocktails…
Just before I set sail into the Wilderness, S.Pellegrino invited me to a wonderful dinner on the roof of Harvey Nichols, created and cooked by Lee Westcott (you might remember me raving about his restaurant, Typing Room). This meal was just one of the amazing experiences in their Itineraries of Taste series, and it was absolutely delicious. Lee had created a gorgeous menu and popped up between courses to have a chat with us all and answer any questions we might have… Such a cheeky chappy is Lee – just look at that face!

A couple of days later we all zoomed off to Wilderness Festival, where the weather was changeable, the excitement was infectious and where much magic happened.

We saw comedy, sang in a choir, paddled in the lake, danced under the stars, talked politics, saw a streaker, spotted The Queen of Hearts, ate exceptional food from leading chefs and consumed too much avocado.

S.Pellegrino had kindly put us up in boutique camping, which was very dreamy indeed… hot showers with Neal’s Yard products every morning… pretty luxurious stuff for a campsite.

The Angela Hartnett feast was great fun – we all sat on long sharing tables and each dish was designed to be shared between six people… which could be really awkward if you’re sat with very quiet people. Or weirdos. But our gang was brilliant. We met some lovely folk and we all shared and compared Wilderness stories..

This was my fourth Wilderness, and I will certainly be back. It’s one of my most favourite places to be. Where else can you sing along to the soundtrack of TopGun at the top of your lungs without receiving looks of concern?
