Change a little, enjoy a lot…

There’s no denying it, Winter is well and truly here. And it has brought with it bitter winds, snow, rain, a frozen pond in the garden (you’ll know all about this and my fish rescue mission if you follow me on insta stories) and a cold that creeps into my bones and just won’t budge.
I actually don’t mind the cold weather at all, as long as I can watch it from inside. I like to be on a sofa, wrapped in blankets, warm and toasty and appreciating the freezing snow from the other side of the window.
When weather like this hits, I automatically go into WINTER SURVIVAL mode, which involves a number of tried and tested techniques, that see me through the cold spell, ready to emerge as bright as a butterfly come Spring.
Well, that’s the plan at least. It doesn’t always work out that way (I am still trying to get rid of my cough) but the intentions are good and that’s a start, no?

I implement my plan like a ninja – 1. Always wear slippers inside, 2. Put socks on radiator at night, 3. Make soup, 4. Eat soup, 5. Wear a scarf like you’re meant to and not like you’re on a catwalk… ALL THESE THINGS come into play and help see me through.
The biggest change of all in the colder months, is my shift and pull towards warming and cosy eats and drinks. Two of my favourite go-tos, are a delicious bowl of creamy porridge for brekky, and a warming morning smoothie. All day long.

Both of which I have always made with cow’s milk, often full fat (especially the porridge) and it has never really occurred to me to make these two, very loved treats, any other way.
More and more I have felt that I want to actively increase the amount of plant based food and drink in my diet… and this is where the lovely folk at Alpro come in, with their super capes, and super powers and amazing range of plant based alternatives to yoghurt and milk.
They sent me a few of their products to try and a few days later I was whipping up a storm in my kitchen, creating porridges out of Alpro Oat Original and Alpro Almond Unsweetened and completely loving the results.
My favourite recipe was using the Alpro Oat Original drink. I was able to get the porridge gorgeously creamy and I loved the flavour…

I made it exactly the same way as I would normally do, and topped it with apple, cinnamon and walnuts… and I can absolutely say that I am loving the plant based change. Had I known, I’d have done this much sooner!
I’ve made one little change to my daily routine, and I’m actually surprised at how easy it has been… It’s made me wonder what other little tweaks I could make here and there to get me rocking an even healthier diet.
One step at a time though, and in a few days I’ll be sharing my new favourite way to create a warming morning smoothie with another Alpro wonder…

It looks delicious, but I think adults must not eat milk or at least they should minimize eating/drinking it. Milk contains a sugar called lactose that can be difficult for adult people to digest. Another problem can be increased Cholesterol. But there are good things for the milk too, the calcium is one of them. So maybe consumed in small quantity will be good.
