It already feels like a very long time away, but just ten days ago I returned from a magical holiday in Costa Rica. I will be writing more about my travels over the coming days, but I wanted to begin by introducing you to Encantada Ocean Cottages in Esterillos, which is where we stayed towards the end of our trip…
Esterillos is very much off the beaten track and is absolutely beautiful. Situated along the Pacific Coast, it has a relatively deserted long stretch of beach, with stunning surf (it’s a bit of a surfer’s paradise) sunsets, a soft sands and the warmest sea I’ve ever splashed about in. We walked along the beach for ages on our first day there and didn’t bump into a soul – heaven.
Encantada Ocean Cottages are owned and loved by a Southern Californian couple, Nome and Tiffany. They fell in love with Costa Rica after they visited for the first time and once they got home, they set about planning their escape from California and their future in Esterillos.. with their gorgeous dog as well.
They have managed to create a gorgeous haven of beauty and tranquility and it is clear that they both have a wonderful eye for design. This was no Costa Rican shack. No siree…

I was in this hammock rather a lot… (and I was never not wearing my Accessorise kaftan...)

Yes, this is me in a bikini and do not underestimate how brave I am sticking this up here. It’s entirely because I want to share with you my love for my new Biondi bikini – I chose it online and the sizing is spot on – it fitted me perfectly. (Unusual, no?) Oh and we’re reading The Twilight Hour for Poppy Loves Book Club this month!
Every day we woke up to the sound of the sea, dappled sunshine through the curtains and the smell of fresh coffee… breakfast was always fresh fruit for us, although we could have chosen from a number of other delicious items on the menu. We sat at one of the pretty tables in the mornings… listening to the birds, feeling the warmth on our skin and thinking about how lucky we were to be in such a magical place…

Standard breakfast attire…Kimono and necklace are both Monsoon, White Isle. Sunnies are Monsoon too.
And the dining area at night looked absolutely gorgeous, twinkling as the sun went down..
Our short stay here was absolutely wonderful and I cannot recommend highly enough as place to get away to, eat cleanly, swim in the warm sea and really and properly relax…
It was utterly magical and I can’t wait to go back… more to come ;)

Oh then you SHOULD! :)
We also just returned from a wonderful trip to Costa Rica. We did not explore this area, but it certainly looks beautiful! We really enjoyed our trip and found the people to be so kind. If we ever return, we will definitely be visiting the beautiful place that you stayed!
