Breakfast at Daylesford Farm Shop on Westbourne Grove
Last week involved rather a lot of zipping about for me and my little legs. And what’s more, I was still on all kinds of hard hitting pain killers and antibiotics for my wisdom tooth removal, (which shall forever be known as The Big Ouch) so I was a bit like a space cadet… but looking far less like a cheeky chipmunk.
But amidst my druggy haze, thanks to my job, my wonderful friends and a very lovely man there have been oodles of things that have been making me smile. Here are a few of those moments, which were all snapped on my iPhone and posted on Instagram, (I’m a big fan) so do pop over and follow me there if you’re not already…
The picture above is of my delicious breakfast at Daylesford on Westbourne Grove; Natural yoghurt, seeds, stewed fruit and honey. I’m attempting (important choice of words there) to stay away from wheat and refined sugar at the moment, so this breakfast was perfect. And delicious. I really love Daylesford – it’s a proper little tranquil haven nestled within the busy streets of Notting Hill… it’s closing for the Summer for a farm shop make over (exciting! Will there be REAL COWS?) but its doors will be wide open again in September.

After my breakfast I wandered over the road and drank in all the beautiful aromas and colours bursting out of Wild at Heart‘s little shop. They pull them out everyday and sit hundreds of blooms on the pavement in buckets and crates and watering cans.. it’s an urban meadow and it’s all I can do to not do a running jump into the middle of them and bury my face deep into all the petals.. I’m sure they’d be delighted if I did…
Oliver Bonas Press Day – AW14
I was very excited to go Oliver Bonas‘ first ever press day in celebration of their 21st birthday. I was even more excited to meet the bubbly buying team, the lovely girls in their press team and Mr Oliver Bonas himself; Olly Tress. What a spectacularly nice man. In case you didn’t know, Oliver Bonas started with Olly bringing back gifts for friends from his travels abroad: interesting things from interesting places. Then came the first shop, which opened in Fulham in 1993. Now there are 40 Oliver Bonas shops. Boom. So it turns out that Olly is a gentleman, super savvy AND has an eye for beautiful design. It’s borderline annoying.

There were so many gorgeous bits and pieces – their buyers have very beady eyes and understand the brand so well, that there was not one thing that didn’t make total and utter Oliver Bonas sense. Stunning colours and beautiful textures have been brilliantly matched with their clothing, jewellery, home furnishings and gifting… and there was cake.

Klook’s Last Stand at Park Theatre, Finsbury Park
I was lucky enough to see one of the final performances of Klook’s Last Stand at Park Theatre in Finsbury Park with the (very clever as he found and booked the tickets) Lovely Man. It was absolutely fantastic and I wish I’d heard about it earlier as I’d have made you all go and see it. This tale of love, hope and darkened pasts was written and directed by the critically acclaimed Ché Walker with music by Anoushka Lucas and legendary neo-soul artist, Omar. The two actors utterly dazzled me and we couldn’t stop talking about it all the way home.
(I was also slightly dazzled by the fact I was sitting next to Jesse Wallace, Tameka Empson and Diana Parish from Eastenders.)
The Park Theatre definitely has its finger on the pulse – both plays I have seen there (The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance) have been fantastic… you can see what’s coming up over here.
Chocolate Mylk by Rebel Kitchen
I nipped into Portobello Wholefoods and emerged with this! Chocolate milk that’s dairy free, sugar free and made entirely out of water, coconut milk, date nectar and cacao (2%). I’m a big fan of chocolate milk so to find one that’s free from the baddies and delicious was a high five moment!
Manicure at Julie Nails, Notting Hill Gate
I had a manicure at Julie Nails on Notting Hill Gate and opted for Essie’s ‘Too Too Hot’. This picture was taken five days afterwards, so it had already survived much laptop bashing, baking and piano playing. You can see my fingers are dry around the nails so I also bought some cuticle oil to see if I can remedy it… if you have a good suggestion for this I’d love to hear it – I’m always on the lookout for a hero product.

Fresh raspberries from Portobello market with a cup of tea and natter on the phone to my mum. Doesn’t get better than that.
VW Campervan spied in the backstreets of Notting Hill
And then I spied this gorgeous campervan… I am a sucker for these retro VW vans and I dream of buying one, decking it out in vintage fabrics and taking to the road in a kind of hippie yet middle class way. (Fewer drugs. More tea and cake.)

And finally, I snapped these beauties as I wandered around Wholefoods in Kensington, picking up ingredients for one of the recipes in my new favourite recipe book – A Modern Way to Eat by Anna Jones, pictured below.. I’ll be showing you the results of this very soon!

A great list! I’m completely addicted to Rebel Kitchen Chocolate Mylk at the moment (in fact I’m drinking one right now!). A Modern Way to Eat looks great, I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
