What you do today…

What you do today

Ralph Marston

There is something about the word ‘sustainability’ that I’m sure confuses people. I hear it so much – on the news, on documentaries – it’s in the papers and advertisements… and wonder how many people actually haven’t got a Scooby Do what ‘being sustainable’ actually means.

Oasis Dress AW16

Over the last six weeks I’ve packed up a flat in Finsbury Park, moved house to Walthamstow, had a jaunt in the Cotswolds for LM’s birthday,  whizzed off to Greece for a couple of weeks holiday and suffered a technical disaster to end all technical disasters. (Hundreds of emails were deleted from my inbox and I’m still wading through my injured inbox on a recovery mission…)

Oh, hi there…

Supper on Milos

These past couple of weeks, I have been recharging, rebooting, sleeping and (mostly) eating on two of the most gorgeous Greek islands I have ever had the good fortune to visit – Milos and Sifnos.

I have a camera full of photos to share with you, but for now, this is a hello – I’m home!

We got back in the wee hours of yesterday morning and today is my first day back at my desk, coffee in hand and an inbox bursting at the seams…

A day at the races – my first time at Ascot!

Chaps and Dames

Ever since I saw Eliza Doolittle scream in the most unladylike fashion on my grandparents’ television, “COME ON DOVER!!” I have wanted to go to Ascot.

I was very lucky to attend Ascot a few days ago as the guest of Great British Racing. The excitement was palpable. Which was followed quickly by panic – I need a HAT! And, what am I going to do with my hair?

“I work from laptop”
10 London cafés to work from

Charlotte Street Hotel

As a blogger, I find that there is often the assumption that I spend most of my time working from home.  But the truth is, when it’s time to hit the emails (always) catch up on some research or write a few blog posts, I find I’m far more likely to head to one of my favourite London cafes to settle in for the day, rather than sit by myself at home, with the fridge and all its naughtiness calling me…

My Summer Lights Party for Macmillan

Macmillan Summer Lights Party

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of those charities that seems like it knows you personally. It’s like a friend, your gang, your rock and is now synonymous with coffee mornings, the coming together of friends and lashings (yes I said lashings and yes I read a lot of Enid Blighton) of cake.

When I found a lump in my breast, the whole world stopped. Thankfully, my journey didn’t continue past the biopsy and mammogram, but for so many others, the story is very different.

Once upon a time…

Best friends

When I was 8 years old, I felt very different to how I do now.

I didn’t understand how to fit in. Everyone else seemed to make friends easily, know the dance moves to songs I’d never heard of, knew how to wear a scrunchie without looking like a member of Fraggle Rock… and I just wanted to read books, build dens and sit in a treehouse.

Growing my own

Wyevale Garden Centre

I wouldn’t call myself particularly green fingered. In fact, for a while I thought my fingers were the kiss of death for any plant – especially orchids. And basil. Even the weeds I cultivated last Summer looked sorry for themselves.

So it was with great excitement that I accepted the challenge set for me, by Wyevale Garden Centres – to grow my own produce at my London flat, which (hopefully) I should be able to actually EAT in a few weeks…
