Etsy Everyday Emporium

Etsy Everyday Emporium

You may recall how much I love Etsy and their ethos from my previous post, where I also beeped loudly about how excited I was about their forthcoming pop up and how you wouldn’t have to buy anything with actual MONEY but instead with an INSTAGRAM snap…

Well, last week saw their Etsy Everyday Emporium hit the streets of Fitzrovia, which was the source of MUCH excitement, some very long wiggly queues of people peering through fogged up windows before opening hours, and some narrowly avoided fisticuffs… (Not really, but is good for drama).

I made me a Terrarium!

London Terrariums

I am rather enjoying getting into this growing lark. I’ve got tomatoes sprouting on my balcony, mint flourishing in my kitchen, mould in my bathroom and a few days ago I was lucky enough to take part in a workshop with London Terrariums… which saw me coming home with my very own bottled garden, just like what them Victorians did all those moons ago…

A lunch to celebrate ‘Succession’;
A James Stroud exhibition

James Stroud Succession with Balvenie Whisky

Last week I found myself in a carpark at The Vinyl Factory, to celebrate the launch of ‘Succession’ – photographer James Stroud’s new, beautiful exhibition.

James Stroud’s latest exhibition is a collection of photographs he took at The Balvenie distillery in Scotland – a place he was drawn to for the people, the process and the many generations whose lives have moved with it and have been connected with this wee part of Scotland for years… and he has captured their love, their heart and their true souls…

Blossom & Brush

Blossom and Brush

Rhiannon Southwell is a Bristol dweller, who likes a bit of privacy in her home. And don’t we all. But there’s something about net curtains that makes me think of Dot Cotton, frosted glass conjures up images of cheap hotel bathrooms and finding blinds that both do the job and actually look lovely too, are very difficult to come by.

Rhiannon felt the same, and so after a fruitless search for a window solution she loved, she decided to take matters into her own hands and painted a folk inspired design onto the inside of her windows.

Charles and Ray Eames

I’d been wanting to get to The World of Charles and Ray Eames exhibition for ages so when a window presented itself yesterday, LM and I hopped on a train and whizzed down to The Barbican. The Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith Line were all up the spout, so we took the Northern Line to Moorgate, which was pretty much the same walking distance away from The Barbican than Barbican station itself…

Just before my op, I hot-footed it over to Brick Lane in East London, to visit the immersive and multi-sensory The House of Peroni, entitled ‘Vita all’Interno’ – meaning ‘a life lived inside’. This month-long residency is a celebration of the Italian home – think food, beer, cocktails, laundry, art, nonnas, cake, music and pasta….

Finding my palette

Deluxe Colour Palette

I’m always on the hunt for new ways to refresh a room and bring a space in my home back to life. Often, all it needs is a small change, like new piece of furniture, or picture on the wall. And sometimes it’s just time to go all out and repaint the room which always fills me with excitement – mostly because when you’re painting in your decorating clothes, it basically gives you carte blanche to listen to rubbish radio FM and drink as much tea and eat as many biscuits as you like.
