Inbetweeny weather does not make for easy times in the city. It’s impossible to know what to wear, what to pack, what to layer, what to leave behind… I’ve been out in wellies and shorts (not one of my greater plans) sandals and coats (better) and of course, my trusty umbrella comes with me wherever I go… But it’s BIG. And HEAVY. And, if I’m being completely honest, really blimmin annoying.
I’ve always been a fan of parkas and macs, but they’ve never quite cut it for me. They’re too tight, or too bright… and my bum always seems to get soggy, even just walking around. Until I was introduced to Parka London… and Boom. My inbetweeny weather world was changed forever.
I’m sure most of us have some kind of parka stuffed down the back of a wardrobe, but the fact that that’s where it is, proves that you’re not in love with. You haven’t taken it into your heart, and I completely understand why. Parkas have never been beautiful. They’ve been purely functional (and occasionally barely that). But Parka London is DIFFERENT. They’ve taken the classic parka, a stalwart of the outerwear world, and made it modern. And beautiful. Every single tiny design detail has been carefully considered and refined to make it work for modern individuals (me and you!) with busy lives (me me me me me me me and you!)
They’ve taken all that’s good about the classic parka and made it so, so much better. Everything, from the fabric to the cut has been considered and refined to make their coats brilliant. And, most importantly for me at the moment, they have enormous hoods and water repellent materials, which shield me from the elements and keep me toasty dry.
You may, like me, think that Parka London has been around since time began. But it was in fact, launched in 2013 when designer Fiona Mills wanted to transform the parka into a modern, affordable classic and new essential. They are made beautifully, look fantastic and are built to last, season after season after season…
More styles from Parka London
I scampered about in London last week, in the rain, the drizzle, the sunshine and the cooler breeze… and my Parka London coat came with me on my journey, wrapped me up, kept me warm and dry, and rolled up into a ball I could shove into my bag, when the sun came out.
I am a total convert and now can’t gazing at their whole range… it it Winter yet?
I can’t wait.
