Summer in London means the endless search for cool (as in temperature) shady and outdoor pretty spots to sip cocktails with friends on hazy weekends or for a cheeky tipple after work. There are gorgeous little terraces that pop up all over the city and one of my favourites this year is The Churchill Bar & Terrace at Hyatt Regency London – newly designed, in association with the National Trust’s Chartwell, and looking stunning.
I popped in last week with a pal on a gorgeously balmy evening and sampled several of their new cocktails – they’ve partnered with Bacardi and have created eight new Summer cocktails – all delicious!
The Churchill, in association with the National Trust’s Chartwell, has brought the serene gardens of Sir Winston Churchill’s family home, to the heart of London. Inspired by the long summers Sir Winston & Lady Churchill spent both at Chartwell, and on their romantic Italian honeymoon (they were so romantic!) with the help of the Chartwell team, the alfresco terrace is absolutely charming. It’s adorned with blooming roses and wisteria, English red brick walls, a trickling water feature and exact replicas of Clementine’s very own intricate bench design, where you can cosy up with a blanket and kick back late into the evening…
Katherine Barnett, House & Collections Manager at Chartwell has said: “We are delighted to work with Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill to bring the serenity and beauty of Chartwell to London. The design details of The Churchill Bar’s Summer Terrace reflect key features of Chartwell and in particular the much loved gardens that surround Sir Winston’s country home”.
The terrace is a hop, skip and a jump away from Marble Arch station and if you didn’t know it was there, it’s likely you’d not stumble upon it.
But now you do! So go go go and get your Winston on.
He’ll be ever so glad you did.
