Les 110 de Taillevent

Les 110 Taillevent

I must apologise to you for the delay with this write up. You saw it on my insta stories, you fell in love, I promised you a piece on my blog that weekend… and then life happened and everything in my world came to a bit of a grinding halt.

So for the past few weeks I have been playing catch up like I’ve never played before – I’m juggling balls like a (semi) pro circus act and I have most certainly dropped a fair few along the way… (I said semi).

Thank you so much for sticking with me through this wibbly bit and I hope it goes a little way to explaining the long gaps that have been appearing between each blog post. I bega writing this post while sitting in a cafe in Seattle, in a semi jet lagged state, watching the rain pour down outside, while sipping an almond chai latte, and remembering this amazing meal… which I will now share with you and we can all wish we were there…

Les 110 de Taillevent is a French Brasserie on Cavendish Square – a short stroll away from both Oxford Street and Regent Street in the heart of lovely London.

You may have heard of the Michelin two-star Taillevent in Paris, which has a bit of a special reputation.  Les 110 de Taillevent in London is its sister… and not the kind of sister that steals all your hairbands. It’s the best sister you could hope for – one that takes on the weight of the Taillevent name and rises up to meet and surpass every expectation, one that offers both classic and modern French dishes and one that offers an incredible choice of perfectly paired wines by the glass. One hundred and ten wines by the glass, to be precise.

The restaurant itself is vibrant and unintimidating, while still making you feel that you are somewhere very special.

We went along to try their new set menu, complete with wine pairings, and had 3 courses for the grand total of £25 – amazing value.

We chose from a select menu of three starters, three mains and two desserts… and it was not easy to choose!

My starter – Soft boiled egg, spinach purée, parmesan, kale

The meal was absolutely exquisite, and with every course came a wine carefully selected for us…

Each wine came clearly labelled with a clever sleeve around the stem – really handy for recording which wines you drank so you can buy them yourself…

The sommeliers were amazing – they knew SO much. About wine. About life. They appeared out of nowhere, like mythical creatures and seemed to have studied my tastebuds at length, without me even noticing…as every wine they suggested was absolutely spot on. Perfect pairings.

Better than Barbie & Ken. More like Frankie and Johnny.

Cagney & Lacey.

Perfect.

If you are a serious wine lover, this is a place to go and hole up in for the evening. Order deliciousness from the menu, work your way merrily through their extensive plonk collection and prop yourself up at the bar to enjoy the buzz and fizz of the place…

Then get a taxi home. Ya hear?

  1. Wow – everything is absolutely stunning! It must have taken ages to handcraft each of these dishes – or then again, maybe not, I imagine these people are pretty much masters at what they do! Thank you for sharing your experience, I need to put this place on my list :) x
