Warm smoothies for winter

Warm-Smoothie

I do love a smoothie, but have always associated them with summer.

Until NOW. Have you ever had a warm smoothie? They are my new favourite thing.

It’s still so cold outside and I’m constantly wrapped up in scarves, hats, gloves and thermals… but rather than grab a coffee or a hot chocolate to warm me up, I’m instead whipping up a storm in my kitchen and creating delicious warm smoothies from fresh fruit and veg, and feeding my body at the same time as feeding my soul.

And the two are very different. A packet of jaffa cakes very much feeds my soul. But my body is furious with me for scoffing them. You see?

Rather than using milk, as I would normally, I make this cosy warm smoothie with either the Alpro Oat Original drink (for a fibre boost) or Alpro Almond Unsweetened drink (zero sugar!), both of which add real depth of flavour and creamy consistency . Again, I’ve made one small change to a recipe and loving the end result.

This one is one of my favourites – Warm Ginger Pear Smoothie. It’s extremely easy to make (all you need is a knife and a blender) and very, very delicious.

I love the addition of ginger as well as it’s really quite a magical ingredient – it can help settle an upset tummy, it stimulates your digestion system, it enhances your metabolism, and even acts as a natural pain reliever.

Whizz it all up in a blender…

Just peel and chop everything up, chuck it in a blender with Alpro’s Almond Unsweetened drink and blitz it. Then pour into a pan to gently heat up on the hob…

And drink.

Welcome to a whole new smoothie world.
