I can’t quite believe that I’m opening the twelfth and final door of my real life Mayfair Advent Calendar… but I am.

And this door is one of the most magical doors I have ever stepped through, not only in Mayfair, but anywhere in London…

The 70-year old Silver Gallery at Sheraton Grand London Park Lane remains unique in London. It has its very own entrance onto Piccadilly and feels incredibly luxurious when you enter to go into the ballroom…

The ballroom can host up to 500 guests for dinner and dancing, or 1,200 for a reception, with a built-in stage for entertainment…

The Grade II listed Ballroom at Sheraton London Park Lane has to be the most glamorous in London. At 11,000 square-foot and grand chandeliers to match the enormity of the space, it is straight out of a fairytale… and a real life fairytale at that, for it was here where the Queen herself took ballroom lessons… (this is all pre-Strictly. No Rhumba, I can assure you).

The room itself has countless original features from when it was built in the Art Deco era, including the rope adorned mirrored doors you can see above…  The whole room shimmers and gleams and the enormous history of the place, with the thousands of people who have stood here in this exquisite ballroom before, was not lost on me…

I walked around slowly, taking in every detail and falling in love a little bit more with every step…

This beautiful hotel, built in the early 1900s, has been on an incredible journey… through the First World War, the Roaring Twenties, the Second World War, the 40s the 50s… the Swinging Sixties! It’s been the haven for many celebrities, socialites and aristocracy and has a long history of bringing people together in the heart of Mayfair.

And with all this fabulous history, it has come out of the other side of its restoration looking more spectacular than ever.

So although some may look back to the 20s as its prime time, it’s clear to see that its true heyday is now. And we are all alive to see it.

So this Christmas do visit for a bottomless brunch, afternoon tea, irresistible cocktails or a luxurious stay in one of its spectacular rooms… It’s the best present you’ll ever give to yourself and I can’t think of a better way to end this wonderful Mayfair adventure.

I do hope you’ve enjoyed stepping through the Twelve Doors of Mayfair with me, and an enormous thank you to Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, who have made each and every one of these experiences possible.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone, wherever you are the world… and let’s all meet for cocktails soon.

See you at Smith & Whistle?

p.s. Don’t forget you can get a free cocktail at Smith & Whistle until the end of December. Details here…

  1. I just wanted to say I really loved this little series of yours – I’ve discovered so many new places I want to go to! :) This place especially sounds great – I love the idea of going for a bottomless brunch during the Christmas holidays! x
