The Coach & Horses, established in 1744 (think about it – that is old) is the oldest pub in Mayfair. It used to be a coaching inn providing rest and recuperation to passing noblemen, along with food and water for their horses…. and more recently it provided me with the most unbelievably good Scotch Eggs and delicious sherry, in December 2016….
Welcome to the sixth door of Mayfair…
The Coach & Horses is a Grade II listed building and still retains many of its historic features such as cellars and an old-fashioned coldroom… I love how traditional a pub it still is, in an area that has become one of the most prestigious in London…
Parts of Mayfair are super duper swanky, so to be able to hole up in a proper old pub, sip sherry and scoff oozy, perfectly seasoned Scotch eggs, is a bit of an unexpected treat…
So step back in time and seek this gorgeous pub out… But double check the address first, for there’s another different Coach & Horses round the corner!
I can’t believe we’re already half way through my Twelve Doors of Mayfair real life advent calendar… door number seven is tomorrow, and all I can promise is that there’ll be a snowman.
And a hat.
And some questionable dance moves.
