The World of Charles & Ray Eames

Charles and Ray Eames

I’d been wanting to get to The World of Charles and Ray Eames exhibition for ages so when a window presented itself yesterday, LM and I hopped on a train and whizzed down to The Barbican. The Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith Line were all up the spout, so we took the Northern Line to Moorgate, which was pretty much the same walking distance away from The Barbican than Barbican station itself…

Saving serious moolar around London
with The ENTERTAINER App

Lunch at SUDA Thai in Soho

I had never heard of The ENTERTAINER App until very recently, despite it being around since 2001, but that’s because it has only recently launched in London. The app has been hugely successful in The Middle East, Asia, Africa and other European cities… and now the team are very excited to have arrived in the mothership of cities – London town.

And I am too. And so should you be. Why? Because the app takes ‘buy one get one free’ to a WHOLE new level.

Diamonds are forever
(It’s a fact.)

Ever-Us-Ring-Signet

The word ‘diamond’ comes from the Greek word ‘adámas’, which means unalterable, unbreakable and unconquerable. And in Greek mythology, diamonds were believed to be tears of the Gods… They are the hardest known substance on earth – nothing can beat them.

Not in strength, sparkle nor romance. Nada.

Typing Room

Typing Room in Bethnal Green, chef - Lee Westcott

When I met Lee Westcott at Wilderness Festival this year, he was so casual and unbelievably modest about his ‘little restaurant’ in the heart of Bethnal Green, that I thought I might have misunderstood. Or maybe I’d just had too many rums. (There had been much rum that night.) (Is the plural of rum, rums? Much rum.)

I do love munching on a deliciously warm, buttery, homemade mince pie, while clutching a steaming mulled wine between my mittens… Christmas Markets are one of my favourite things, like crisp apple strudel and schnitzel with noodles…

For the love of tartan

I love Scotland. I love the accent, the landscape, the colours, the people… I love its haggis, its history, its heritage and other things beginning with h that I can’t think of right now.

I also have always loved tartan, so when my wonderful pal Emma suggested I go on a two day Scottish trip with her and some other bloggers to meet Anna, founder of Scotland Shop and learn all about how tartan is made, I leapt at the opportunity.

Tea, recipe browsing & The Archers

I may live in one of the most exciting cities in the world, but I am a simple girl at heart. There is nothing I like better than curling up on an afternoon, with a cup of tea, a pile of recipe books and listening to The Archers on the radio.

That was until Rob turned up – he makes me want to smash stuff up every time I hear his voice.

Ice Skating at Somerset House
(and so much more…)

Skate at Somerset House

You know Christmas is on its way when you find yourself swoosh swoosh swooshing over the ice at Somerset House. It’s one of my main ‘Christmas is Coming’ indicators. Others include buying the Radio Times, stocking up on mince pies… and then eating mince pies for breakfast because I Can. Not. Wait.

Ice Skating in London fills me with sparkle – the nostalgic romance of it conjures up images of Doris Day, 1950s skirts and ponytails… it transports me to another time of gentle courtship… and a date on the ice would have been magical…
