Bite Me Pizza on Westbourne Grove

Earlier this week, my brother and I headed down to Bite Me Pizza on Westbourne Grove, for some blimmin good pizza. Bite Me Pizza hasn’t been there for very long, but they’re already making a bit of a name for themselves…  The fact that all the seats were taken in their dinky restaurant was testament to that.

Card Nest

How often does it happen that your diary goes ‘ping!’ and reminds you that it’s someone’s birthday? Or anniversary? Or their first day in a new job, or last day in an old job or any old thing worth celebrating…? And when that ‘ping!’ goes ‘ping!’ does your heart sink a little bit as you’d really love to send them a card, but you haven’t got one and you haven’t got time to go and buy one… and then the stamps.. and the post office… and oh grrrrr!

I always have such good intentions when it comes to running. I really mean to do it. I mean, I really, really mean to do it. I get my trainers out, my sports bra, (really need a new one actually – all recommendations appreciated) and then faff about with my iPhone, tangled wires, clunky uncomfortable headphones and sometimes get distracted by biscuits… but if I leave the house within the hour it’s a miracle. (If I leave the house at all to go running I think it’s fair to say it’s a miracle.)

Living in a city like London often goes hand in hand with living in a small space. I have lived in many a weeny pad and know what it is, to FALL OVER my own shoes, cut my finger on the cheese grater while trying to wrestle the cling film out of the kitchen drawer.. and of course, the classic squash-the-hangers-into-the-wardrobe-as-tightly-as-they-will-go-so-all-your-clothes-are-crumpled-and-unhapy-looking-and-what’s-the-point-anyway.

Barnyard London

Oh, howdy.

Last Saturday morning I was VERY excited as I was heading with LM to Barnyard – the latest venture from Mr Ollie Dabbous – the ingenious chap behind Dabbous, and who seems to be able to do amazing and rather ground breaking things with the simplest of ingredients. Like carrots*.

*No offence to carrots. I love carrots. They were just the first thing that sprung to mind.

The House of Peroni
in residence at Lincoln’s Inn Fields

House of Peroni

Last week, after breakfast at Holborn Dining Room, I strolled around the corner and visited The House of Peroni on Lincoln Fields, where it has taken up residency until the end of October.

The House of Peroni celebrates the culturally diverse hub of Rome that inspired the creation of Peroni Nastro Azzurro. A new generation of Italian creative talent from the worlds of food, drink, design and film have brought modern Rome to central London for the entire month of October and as a guest, you are invited to explore the four floors of the transformed townhouse showcasing specially-commissioned artworks by Italian designers, artists and architects… and explore, I did.

Oh, Really.

Breakfast in Bed

Breakfast in bed is always such a treat, no matter how it arrives or is assembled. I usually clamber downstairs in my pyjamas, put knives in butter, teabags in mugs and emerge triumphantly with slightly burnt, marmite smothered toast, strong tea and orange juice. If I’d remembered to buy it. And it’s lovely.

Last week was the week I went to Palma for lunch. Yes. Palma, Majorca. Lunch. I will be writing more about this later this week, but for now I will say that there’s something about zipping off to Spain for the day that somewhat destroys your ability to stay awake for the following days directly afterwards…
