Dear Diary…

You may or may not have been aware that I have been having a few technical issues with my beloved blog. Things have disappeared, gone wonky, changed colour, started spinning (?!) but I am very pleased to announce that all of these blips have (mostly) been ironed out. There are still a few little oddnesses (yes, I’ve decided this is a word) but nothing that is too terrifying for me to deal with anymore… so onwards and upwards and all fingers and toes crossed for smooth sailing from now on!

Orange juice and kale juice at Daylesford Organic Westbourne Grove

How is it Monday again? I feel as though the past week flew by in a jumbo jet. On turbo speed. And in a hurry to eat its dinner.

My week was packed with all kinds of fun and unexpected things, but I’ve done my best to snap as many of them as possible.. so here is my photo diary of last week. All captured on my iPhone and made to look even more gorgeous than they are in real life, thanks to the super powers of Instagram. (Can one Instagram one’s life? One’s piles of washing up? I’m going to give it a go.)

This is just a little reminder about my book club this evening, Wednesday 24th September.

This month we’ve been reading ‘Vulgar Things’ by Lee Rourke and are lucky enough to have the author himself joining in our online discussions tonight at 7:30pm!

As always, Poppy Loves Book Clubs are meeting all over the land and coming together online at at the same time, so to see where your local group is just head over to my Book Club page.

Poppy Loves Book Club in Queenstown, NZ, always get together a day early due to the time difference, and they have already had a brilliant time reviewing Vulgar Things – here’s a fantastic pic from them and here is Jane’s post all about it.

If you are interested in starting up a book club in your part of the world, please let me know and we can have a chat… it’s enormous fun ;)

In the meantime, I’m off to read the final pages of the book over a coffee and look forward to seeing you all later, either in person or online, where I’ll also be announcing the new book for October!

Happy reading bookworms,

We’ve been experiencing somewhat of an Indian Summer over here in London. The sun has been shining in determination as if to say “AUTUMN IS NOT ALLOWED IN YET – THIS IS MY PATCH” and we’ve all been loving it.

The above picture is from my stroll around Notting Hill this week…pretty streets in the sunshine always make me feel happy. And that has been very much needed this week… I love my neighbourhood.

Tom-Ford-Sunglasses-Poppy-Loves-Lifestyle-Blog-8 I don’t know about you, but I have had more pairs of sunglasses than I think one person should probably own in their life. I lose them, I sit on them, I leave them on buses and in loos and in bottoms of bags stuffed at the back of my wardrobe… and the reason is this; I have never loved my sunglasses.

I love discovering wonderful places like this.  Wonderful, beautiful, high-ceilinged places, with sweeping marble floors that serve amazingly delicious breakfasts with perfect eggs at not horribly expensive prices in the heart of London town. Or ‘Midtown’, as it’s apparently known now. (When did that happen? I rather like it.)

So many big ticks in all the little boxes.

If you are new to Twitter, or even if you’ve been there a while, you may have heard the term ‘Twitter Chat’ being banded about a bit… and if you haven’t been feeling brave enough to ask “WHAT IS THIS TWITTER CHAT THING I KEEP HEARING ABOUT?” Then let me defug it for you right now. (Is defug a word? You know what I mean.)

First things first, you are going to need to know what a hashtag is. (Mum, stop hiding behind the Telegraph – I promise it’s not scary.)

I am telling you right now that this is going to be a rave. And not just any rave, but a big Japanese-sushi-lovin-swoon RAVE.

I am not even that much of a Japanese food lover – I like it a lot, but I never crave it, like I might do a really good spag bol, or a sexy burger… But, if anyone could change this, it’s Yashin Ocean House, a fine dining Japanese restaurant on Old Brompton Road… and with Chef Daniele Codini at the helm (formerly The Fat Duck, Robuchon Atelier, Paris) I suspected it was going to be a bit of a treat.

But p’raps that’s just England.
